Qantas Frequent Flyer Advisory Community invitation

Looks like typical Qantas IT, JohnM (re closing date). I mean, just how hard is it to get that sort of thing right?

So you nominate to go onto the Community and you fill out a survey. Oh, gee, how does this work?

(Your survey responses may suggest you might be a critic). "Sorry, no actual invitation to join for you."

Its just like the 'questions' to get selected to a QF lunch. No such thing as an arbitrary invitation, or invitations based on a selection of known criteria to make sure the Community is representative (eg age, gender, place of residence, flying profile). No, sir-ee! They want to screen you first. Heaven forbid they get naysays there!
Bloody pathetic it seems to me.

Mate, I know your feelings and I can't disagree on many aspects!

In posting, I guess I was mostly curious as to whether this was something new that had just gone out to a 'selected' group, or whether it was something already in place that they were seeking to 'top up'.

It was done through some marketing company, so it may be them that are half-@rsed, not QF (although, if that's the case QF ought to be more choosy about who does their work). As an old grumpy b*gger, I think I'd just put it down to the shambolic and unscientific nature of the way things are done these days...

We all know that 'marketing' is b*ll**** and their 'research' is unlikely to stand any rigorous statistical scrutiny. They did ask age, gender, no. QF, VA and 'other' flights this year but there were no 'opinion' questions. So, hopefully, selection is based on some objective criteria to get a balanced population profile.

I'll report back as to whether I'm accepted or declined .

I just tried to access the site again via the link just to check on the questions but it recognised that I had already done it and I could go no further. I can always forward you the email if you want to have a crack at it ;).

They swapped the last 767 into, but for me, more so, out of ADL to MEL.
I was hoping to do a last hurrah sort of thing, saying goodbye to the old girl, that was the type of plane I flew SYD to KUL with in 1996/1998.
That was when QF flew that route.

So this is a reason to dump an airline because of aircraft scheduling?

Enjoy the toasted sambos at VA, JB himself may invite you onto their community panel thingy given your obvious value to them as a diehard (or just peeved with a fleeting decision by QF who, gasp, want to try make some money out of an old bird on its last legs).

I see plenty enjoying toasted bread products in the QF lounges as it is.

entertaining posts :)

I got the invitation... answered two questions and was told I was not eligible. How they got that from the questions - one of them being "how many email accounts do I check regularly?", I have no idea.

I would have been happy to give QF my opinion for 1000 points a month...

Was the other question your age mattg:confused:;):p.

Update. I received this email today:

QF.JPG

It appears to be a fairly selective process and they are filling vacancies in a fixed number of positions.

I got a Christmas e-card from the advisory panel so I assume that means I am already on this panel.

Me too! Except I can't seem to find it anymore.

It was certainly a busy year with the advisory community. Lots of required input into service improvements. Seeking our views on how to make things better. Striving for continuous improvement.

Maybe it evaporated, like the striving for continuous, improvements. (Sorry, not the season for that, I know. ;) )

That all sounds cool and all but here's a q that comes to mind... if you're that much of a flyer that QF values your input to this kind of thing, where do you (I mean a generic you, as in member) have the time for all this input?! :)

I think... and I'm really scratching my head here... there might have been one survey from the advisory committee this year?

I think you'll find that the Advisory Panel and the Advisory Community are two different things. I've been on the Panel for yonks (and received the Xmas e-card) but this, seemingly more selective, group is still weighing me up.

And the obvious difference is that they "pay" you on this one. I think a lot of people are on the "advisory panel." Which is a polite way of giving out a heap of surveys for nothing.

I suppose it's nice to be asked.
I have done a few surveys, but I don't appear to be on any permanent survey radar.
