Ooh, I like this one Roo. I was wondering where the salmon etc that other people were seeing were!

I'm much more likely to buy stuff like this for gifts etc for people rather than the hampers that David Jones et al put together, so I'm really pleased to see this.

I purchase from epiQure mainly to get things I can't get elsewhere, whether that's a specific product or a significant amount of QFF points. The wine offers over the past year or so haven't been quite right for me so I'm happy to see some additional products that may be.

Interesting idea, clearly the IBs and focus groups have been through. Has anyone actually ordered any food yet?

Whilst the products do look to be okay, the $7 delivery charge is a bit steep (if not a premium member) unless combining with a wine order to breach the $300 mark.

Furthermore, as BAM1748 said, when spending decent coin on this stuff it is nice to be able to taste it. This is why I love going to markets and gourmet food shops in person. I see online ordering as a slightly more feasible proposition for subsequent RE-orders of products I know I want.

Quick & easy bonus points with Qantas epiQure

Just thought I would post my recent QF epiQure experience here.

I bought some wine online through them yesterday. It cost me $140 for half a dozen very decent bottles of red wine, and for that I received 5,000 bonus points in addition to the 420 regular points - so 5,420 points in total. The bonus points were part of a special promotion, but these promotions appear to be very frequent and there is almost always some sort of deal where you can get 5,000 or even 10,000 bonus points on wine purchases.

Not only is this cheaper than actually buying the same amount of points from Qantas (they sell 5,000 "topup points" for $182.50), but they posted to my account in less than 24 hours.

If anyone needs some extra Qantas points quickly and (relatively) cheaply, this would seem to be a good option. The wine is almost a bonus.

I think most people already take advantage of this. Some make a fuss that they can get the wine cheaper elsewhere, but you're not actually buying the wine in these circumstances... you're buying the points and the wine is a bonus hopefully QF never figures this out!

I wasn't able to partake but I recall recently there was a 15k bonus point promotion!!

Hi njba - i presume you mean 'never seem to offer' . They did have an offer of mixed WA(margaret river) wines recently

The emphasis for the bonus points seems to be mainly on heavy Barossa-type shirazes. Presumably they're the ones with the biggest markups

It varies. There were some awesome bonus point deals earlier in the year for chardonnay and prosecco. I presume being winter, the focus at the moment is more on the reds perhaps?

i agree with you that it's a great way to purchase points and get wine for gifts. I am a fan of mixed offers and they aren't as frequent. The prosecco that greenfish mentioned was a great offer. I did participate in the market survey so happy to see epiqure evolve

Yep it can be a very good deal sometimes.

my best to date was 6 really solid Pinot noirs from Yarra Valley (3 different bottles) for $120 and 7500 points. I bought 3 packs! They were very young so have cellared the majority and will drink in a couple of years. Helped me secure my final MASA run, from memory!

the quick posting of points is a clear plus for those in need.

I too agree that Qantas EpiQure is certainly a winner for both the QFF points and terrific value of many of the specials.

IME the QFF points post the following day after payment, which is absolutely fantastic.

So far I have purchased two mixed cases from EpiQure and have been thrilled with the quality of the wine so far, with many new favourites discovered.

I joined last year, when Qantas had a promo for free " Premium " membership ( 3 points per $ spent, along with free delivery on all purchases), Which expires soon, so hopefully another promo comes up, to reduce ( or eliminate) the membership cost.

The newsletter email from Point Hacks aggregates the bonus offers on Epiqure (QF does not make it easy to find all the offers). I copy and paste this chart into a spreadsheet that tells me the total points I'll receive for each offer, including points from Epiqure and credit card spend. I'll generally buy the wine when I'll receive at least 30 FF points per $.
