Qantas getting into the NFT game

What even is their core business? The core business nowadays seems to be managing a master brand which they apply to anything and/or everything. in which case this fits.
It is a fair point.. specially with the "Frequent Flyer" program being as much a "Frequent Buyer" program these days as probably the most profitable component.

of course I mean the core business of flying planes places and looking after your paying customers (eg: customer service and call centres).

All the rest of the branding and celling offshoots from Golf to Wine to NFI ..NFT,.. to Money.. to whatever... sure all generate something but they're not core to what the airline actually *does*

I wonder if there are actual execs at QF who consider the whole air travel aspect of the company as not the main purpose of the place....

I was being a little flippant with my remark, but

This.

The airline just an enabler for a company who just wants to be a big data company? ;)🤣

At this rate, I think they already are!

First NFTs, what next? IPO for a crypto Qantas Coin?

Although it'd be interesting to see how they can get people to sell/trade/buy the NFTs down the line if only the initial buyer scores points.

Sorry to bump this, but given this was meant to launch mid-year, I guess it's worth noting that this is probably dead.
In a world-first, the initial buyer of a Qantas NFT will be able to earn Qantas Points^, with more exciting future benefits for Qantas NFT holders underway.

Stay tuned for more details in the lead up to a mid-year release.
The webpage is still up though.

good riddance.

Maybe they've noted NFT's other copmpanies have done, haven't exactly been successful. I know we are talking about Qantas here and as much as I like them in some way they are very capable of dissappointment and incompetance.
