Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

It seems you have to complete ONE activity out of FIVE categories each membership year. Paying to fly carbon neutral is easy enough, but the others not so. The eco friendly hotels are not exactly everywhere. I think I'll give this one a miss, no matter how much I would like the extra 50SC.

I think it's do each of 5 of the 6 activities ONCE each year.

Also with the giving to charity, for most of the charities the donation has to be made no earlier than today, so in case they have programmed in that start date it is probably best to wait till after 11am AEDST today (midnight GMT).

I’m Unable to find the sustainability quiz on the Qantas well-being app. Anyone able to find it?
might need to update the app. on the iphone app, it was just below my daily and weekly challenge boxes (halfway down the opening page)

If going for a 1 night mattress run, the Crystalbrook Albion is the cheapest for around $265 a night based on what I seen so far for a city stay. Qantas vouchers can be used.
Ouch, this price is not sustainable for my wallet. Will chase the 5 others green options.

Just more woke virtue signalling.
I agree, however if one can pickup 50SC cheaply and if they count to lifetime status then it's probably still worth getting those SC if not yet at LTG.

I can earn the 3200 points back through Red Planet Portal Surveys or flights easily enough.

I'm not sure the equations stack up for you - the actual earn would be 6800 points once you factor in the 3200 point charity donation.
I have already accepted this one does not stack up for me - even if I could do a cash donation to the charity. I would not want to book the accommodation or do a QF revenue flight - and I have quit alcohol. Just by the bye, I compared the cost of five nights in Fox Resort Jaffna booking through Qantas Hotels and elsewhere - the Qantas Hotels rate was more than double the price available elsewhere. No wonder they can dole out the points.

Revisiting this now we have more info, previous calcs look about right.

Offset flying - seems this can only be added at the time of booking now? In any case, $1-10 depending on route
Sustainable travel - don't bother with this category unless you need to book a hotel anyway
Sustainable lifestyle - Offset your household emissions, cost varies as mentioned above, $50-100 seems to be about the average for a small household
Choose sustainable - Add a $1 Rewards Store climate positive delivery to your "Give back" donation below
Reduce your impact - No monetary cost
Give back - 3200 points to donate $25 to any of the listed charities (no cash option)

So best case scenario around $50 and 3200 points, seems reasonable for 50 SC.
I'm sitting on a pile of points after 2 years of not upgrading stingy work economy international flights, so using some of that up, I've got 4 out of 5... per colouring above... but I couldn't see how to add the $1 climate positive delivery to the 'give back' donation I made? There's no delivery for a digital donation, is there?

I also have a $50 Qantas Wine PC voucher somewhere, so I might just use that to buy something and add the climate positive delivery in that transaction.

Cheers,
Matt.

Whilst I would not go out of my way to complete these activities if I were to do these activities in my normal course of a year or by chance do them without knowing then fine.

For anyone eligible for rollover to next year, this could be worth double.

I'm also not clear if you get the prize each membership year, or only when the status is first attained in any given year?

I'm not sure if these ones would rollover or not. In any case I've already learnt the status credits that can be rolled over, just need to book and take the flight required for it to happen, so I could book the flight to get the rollover and add the carbon offset to it to get one of the ticks to get green status.

The way I found it was:

  1. Go to store.qantas.com
  2. Select gift cards from the top menu bar
  3. Under Sustainability select Climate Positive Delivery
I bought the 1 dollar item with the Give Back donation in the same transaction

It's an item in the store which you can add to your cart, I ended up paying for it with points because I couldn't work out how to pay with cash, and it saved me pulling out the CC.

No one has commented that you can get an amazing green icon for your app though. Surely that alone is worth the time and cost?

Entire thing seems underwhelming. I might put in the effort this year given the SCs will roll-over. For future years might consider if it I need the extra 50SC for achieve/maintain status.

Yea I suspect that pass the novelty effect, many Frequent Flyer will decide to do the green run or not closer to the membership anniversary, where it will be clearer if it is worthwile. This is a bit in contrast with the 100sc PC+ rollover that needs securing before the new membership year.

There is a points plus pay slider at the bottom that you need to slide across. By default they want you to pay for everything using points but you can pay for the climate positive contribution using cash and to offset the home and car using cash.

So for someone in WA, 8,745 points or 3,200 points + $44 for a $25 ozharvest donation, 1 person home offset, and $1 climate positive delivery.

(got a 5% discount on the offset because of points club).

That's three of the five boxes checked, then it's just a flight offset and the survey and we're there. Assuming the flight offset is under $12 and valuing the qantas points at $.01, we're looking at $2 per SC. Which is pretty good.

As soon as I know I will be flying and can check that last box, I'll jump on board.
