Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I've now done four of the five required things. Just need to book and take a flight and wait for QF to update my profile to say that I've done what's required.

There is a points plus pay slider at the bottom that you need to slide across.

It seemed to be greyed out for me when the charity donation was also in the cart, not the end of the world though.

I could slide it across, but only so far as to still pay for all of the charity donation using points when I looked.

Though I ended up doing the home and car offset + the delivery offset on one order using $ and the charity donation on a separate order using points.

I'll be waiting until closer to my membership anniversary date to determine if I want the extra points to tip over to Point Club Plus (Point Club already in the bag). I don't need the SCs as already LTG, not going to get anywhere near LTP in my lifetime, and not going to reach Plat this year or next.

If they did a DSC promo this could make it effectively 7x SC booking a one way flight that earns 10SC (with the small added cost of the carbon offset) and getting 10SC through DSC and 50 SC from achieving Green tier.

The way I found it was:

  1. Go to store.qantas.com
  2. Select gift cards from the top menu bar
  3. Under Sustainability select Climate Positive Delivery
I bought the 1 dollar item with the Give Back donation in the same transaction

It's an item in the store which you can add to your cart, I ended up paying for it with points because I couldn't work out how to pay with cash, and it saved me pulling out the CC.

Thanks all! I was able to add this 'Make a climate (positive) contribution' for $1 on it's own with no other items in the cart, and checked it out for 130 QFF points. 5 out of 5 [needed] for the Green tier now completed ✅ 🤓

Cheers,
Matt.

It would be great if you could add carbon offsetting to an already existing booking.
Maybe this can be done via the call center? More seriously, carbon offset are non refundable. I suspect booking an award with carbon offset, then canceling the flight for free should work.

Decided to do the same, just in case the option is removed.

Yeah I have booked all my flights for this years and totally forgot about this green business. Would like to be able to add to my June ADL flight.

So to gain Green status, saving the globe from climate change you need to take a flight & carbon offset it, burn that jet fuel...... The irony.

The next email you get from Qantas will be buy fuel from BP for triple points, more irony!

Yes I know it can technically be done without a flight.

All this for what....50SC's or 10k points.

The QF Machine rolls on.

To gain any status, you need to fly. This requires you adding anywhere between $1-$15 to the cost of that flight to offset it within a 12 month period. This is hardly requiring anyone to fly for the status specifically.

The whole carbon offsetting for flights is really a complete joke.... Do ppl actually think it's genuine!

It's all spin n PR..... An airline being carbon neutral, hahaha!
You get a green Wizz on your digital status card.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

The only reason I'm interested in doing this is to get the SC. I have never paid to carbon offset any flights before. I'll probably do a one way booking so I only have to offset one flight.
