Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

This is my first year with the comp leaf. Last year, I didn’t get it automatically, and the quiz wasn’t available at commencement of my membership year, but mid-way through the year the quiz randomly became available so I got my leaf again that way.
and 100 pts! 😉

Not sure if this question has been answered previously.. sorry if it's a FAQ!

I have an upcoming international trip with six legs and would be keen to offset and turn over a new leaf, but the Green Tier 'offset upcoming flights' page is quoting 30542 points. This seems a bit much. Is there any way to offset only a single leg of the itinerary?

It seems silly to do a 'green run' and take and offset another short flight in order to reduce carbon footprint :D

No, unfortunately

True. I made my peace with being a giant hypocrite for the benefit of maximizing loyalty programs a looong time ago....

Book fully refundable flight, get your leaf, then be unfortunately unable to take said flight anymore. It's the greenest option possible.
If Qantas cancels the flight too, it’s an even bigger win for the environment!

Awesome hack if the refundable flight option works.. worth a try!

I got 4 leaves and needed to get the 5th from the sustainability survey but of course it wasn't showing in the app. Emailed QFF and suddenly 5th leaf just switched on!

Then a couple of days later I got an email "Congratulations! You've unlocked Green Tier again!" and in the body there's a link to choose my reward (10K points or 50 SC). But when I click on the link it just takes me to the Green Tier page, with no option to choose a reward.

Has anyone experienced this?

Maybe check out the app instead. Should be able to select from there.

I qualified for Green tier status this year. My program year ends on November 30. I'd like to requalify for Green tier status for next calendar year ASAP so I can have access to those 50 bonus status credits. I'm wondering if I were to book a Qantas green tier qualifying hotel now for a stay in December, would I receive that "leaf" when I book the hotel or after I checked out from the hotel?

I know this isn't news, but just wanted to provide another current data point...

Day 1 of my new membership year today. Reattained GT late last month and held my award over for the new year. Noticed my account was not reflecting GT this morning, but I was able to accept my 50SC reward. Just checked my account again this evening and noted that not only was GT now reflecting, but I also have received my first leaf (Reduce Your Impact) automatically without having done anything.
How long were you able to hold the GT before claiming it, if my intention was to follow what you did too and only activate it if I really can't get the SC that I need to hold status.

Also anyone know if GT 10k points also count towards PC?

If memory serves, you have up to 90 days to claim the GT bonus. If you don't claim it within that timeframe, you forfeit the bonus.

Edited to correct the number of days. Thanks for the correction @QF_Flyer :)

Ok, i know this is a stupid question. I'm trying to book a fully cancellable flight but keep coming up with cancellation fees, could somebody please give me an example flight so i can see where i'm going wrong

Probably best to post your question in the Qantas Newbie Questions Thread, but let's say you try a SYD>MEL booking. Economy Flex will allow you to cancel to a Flight Credit for no charge, but cancelling for a refund will cost $99. The same flight in Business allows for free cancellation to either a Flight Credit or a refund. For international flights (e.g. SYD>AKL), an Economy Flex (or higher) ticket allows free cancellation to either a Flight Credit or refund.

What does adding the the GreenPower setup to a Red Energy plan do?

Does it cost extra?

How do you set it up?

Apparently I'm already earning bonus points from Red Energy but haven't got any yet. Guess we'll find out soon as the first bill appears.

My green tier thingy expires in two weeks. Would I be better offsetting my Tasmanian ranch? 😂

I got GT in mid-OCT. My new membership year starts on 1 JAN.

This means I can just wait until 2 JAN to get the 50 SC, right?
