Some words at home over this one.

A long stay in NYC via QF Hotels could yield circa 90k FF points at several chain hotels and the price is cheaper via QF vs otherwise unknown benefits directly and subsequently booking direct for more $$$! 😳

and I thought that I was doing well with earning about 24,000 FF points out of this offer! Obviously I should have gone to NYC instead of Europe!

I had one booking to make which is now done

I got 7 bookings I could cancel and rebook
However 5 of them are for a booked out hotel or a booked out room classification so I run the risk of cancelling and not being able to rebook the exact same so for me this depends on how many extra points to be scored. A $200 spend yields but 1,200 extra points
A $1,400 spend yields 8,200 points

Only 2 look like I could rebook
Both cost about $15 more but for 8,200 points it’s likely worth it

One can book multiple rooms as I have done but they are on separate bookings. Each room comes with its own points earn

The Xmas promotion of 5000 points was better for me (got almost 5x base points off that one for a 3-night stay in Asia)

But I generally only use QH for smaller hotels. Typically find it better going direct with any of the larger chains where you have status.

Does anyone know if I book a hotel during this period and only pay the 20% deposit, do I receive the triple points per $1 spent on just the 20% deposit or on the total amount?

A bonus thing with these Qantas triple points is that they go towards the total for points club renewal for the year (I'm not into credit card churning and that sort of stuff so these really help as there is no limit on how many points from hotel bookings will count towards points club renewal).

Welcome to posting, @MarkB123 !

The conditions only refer to booking by the deadline (not "booked and paid by"...), and points aren't awarded until after you stay, so I believe you'd get the triple points on your total stay amount.

I was querying the same thing last night with a booking I made which was only showing the deposit amount being 9x points (in the confirmed booking details) after I made the booking.

Presumably when the balance is paid, the total points to be credited will update to reflect the entire amount for the stay.

In any case, should there be any issues - I have screenshots from earlier in the booking process showing what should be credited after the stay - including the PC+ 50% bonus amount.

Thanks!

You are correct. I used the Qantas Hotels online chat and this was confirmed. You can just pay the 20% deposit and still receive the triple points for the total amount.
