That is interesting! It is annoying though that Qantas doesn’t open up all remaining seats once within the T-24 check-in window.You might be in a similar situation to me in seeing less seats than other WPs?
Follow-up data point: Thought I’d try again to call Qantas and was answered by a “premium” consultant in Fiji who said the seats were blocked for “passengers travelling with pets”. Is this a thing?

Well the agent is incorrect. Row 4 on a 737 is the row that pax with service dogs/ guide dogs are allocated.

Interesting, I had assumed it was more wide open at T-80 and certainly T-24 onwards! Having been WP for years, I have no idea what the cabin looks like for lower tiers.
In my experience reported in the other thread, SYD+1 has/had about $12k (or more) spend on two QF J trips to the US in 2018 and 2019, above my own spend. I’m assuming one or both of those trips are still sitting in the count for PCV, hence the slightly better seat selection (and possibly more likely granting a shadow).
No animals onboard except for the humans in seats 4E and 4F.
Well you used to be able to get row 4 at T-80 for free even if you had no status. How things have changed.
With the new boarding process, a lowly status PAX flying HLO would be very unwise to grab the front row now, because they’ll still be heading down the back to find locker space.
