Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

You might be in a similar situation to me in seeing less seats than other WPs?
That is interesting! It is annoying though that Qantas doesn’t open up all remaining seats once within the T-24 check-in window.

generally on TT I find I have to checkin, then on the boarding pass click change seat post check in to get row 4 at T-24 but there are some quirks

I got 4A and 4F this week for akl-mel and vv

there was a couple in 4A/4B, which resulted in 4C being shadowed/blocked out in the QF system even though QF will show as available

similar when I selected 4F, 4E became unselectable even though available on seatmap via EF which draws via GDS. I suspect the internal seat map with QF blocks off things at various points

Data point: Checked in for my AKL-SYD flight on the app as soon as check-in opened at T-24 but 4E and 4F has remained blocked. (4A/B/C/D are all occupied.) Called Qantas to see if an agent could manually assign me 4F but she couldn’t do so either.
Follow-up data point: Thought I’d try again to call Qantas and was answered by a “premium” consultant in Fiji who said the seats were blocked for “passengers travelling with pets”. Is this a thing?

It's always been based on PCV, AFAIK.
Imagine someone with no status getting row 4 at T-24.
Interesting, I had assumed it was more wide open at T-80 and certainly T-24 onwards! Having been WP for years, I have no idea what the cabin looks like for lower tiers.

Even, then as per my recent thread, the PCV is definitely in play, even within PAX with the same status.

I also wonder with PCV in play, how individual values are actually impacted given the numbers who are WP by virtue of DSC offers etc.

In my experience reported in the other thread, SYD+1 has/had about $12k (or more) spend on two QF J trips to the US in 2018 and 2019, above my own spend. I’m assuming one or both of those trips are still sitting in the count for PCV, hence the slightly better seat selection (and possibly more likely granting a shadow).
