Hi Experts,

I have a flight coming up to India (SYD->BLR ,BLR->Hyd) to meet other side of the family in a month. I have booked fare using Qantas website . BLR to Hyd flight is operated by Indigo airlines. Does the same baggage rules apply to both flights? Qantas ticket says same baggage allowance for indigo. However , I can't find similar confirmation in indigo website

Indigo website says -
  • IndiGo Domestic Sector connecting to IndiGo international sector or vice versa: IndiGo's Free Baggage Allowance for International sector will be applicable
https://www.goindigo.in/baggage/baggage-allowance.html

But does not say how much for Australian/qantas connecting flights?
Indigo manage booking page isn't recognising the booking reference issued by Qantas .

Any way see the booking in Indigo site or any first hand experiences with Indigo/qantas flight ?

Any inputs much appreciated

If it’s all on the one ticket I guess you don’t have any issues outbound as QF will check luggage through.
On the return it may be more interesting as you’re relying on IndiGo (6E) to check you through. The key will be QF as the Most Significant Carrier, so their baggage allowance should apply. Sorry I can’t give an account of how you’d argue that with 6E staff.

This thread notes the same problem:
Hopefully as the partnership matured the systems will make it transparent for the staff.

Is the SYD-BLR-HYD on single PNR/one booking ref? If yes, the baggage allowance for BLR-HYD is same as SYD-BLR. In other words, your international allowance will flow into the domestic legs, if the domestic legs are on the same PNR as the international leg.

Re: IndiGo (6E) website - I have not been able to find any good information on the 6E website, so I'm not surprised that you were not able to find much info.

Re: BLR-HYD - Is the booking on a QF or 6E flight number?

Sorry I can’t give an account of how you’d argue that with 6E staff.
I can ... get the staff to talk to their airport manager, who will then call their IT/IPT call center in Gurgaon/Delhi. Let them hash it out amongst themselves. Also get the contact number of their IT/IPT call centre and give it to the QF rep you are dealing with (depending on your status).

In my experience, the QF rep (HBA/AKL) was able to call the 6E IT/IPT call centre and sort things out.

Thanks for your reply . Its a single PNR/REF .Ticket has both flight numbers - it says "QF5093 Operated By 6E0638 R"

Process is smooth , indigo just follows whatever qantas accepted in the international flight(number of baggages and weight).

Said hi to Alan Joyce , he was travelling to mumbai on the same flight(syd to blr) as i was.

That's interesting! Did you ask him to restart Australia to Mumbai service? That's what's really stopping me from flying QF on this route, I wouldn't mind the Indigo connection but it's just easier not to have any Indian domestic connection (I usually fly SQ).

What about if we are traveling from Pune-Bangalore-Sydney using Indigo-Qantas code share flights-
The baggage allowance is 30 on my ticket and For 30 kg allowance how much maximum weight they accept per piece for Indigo flight(Pune-Bangalore)?
And Is the web check in allowed for my first Indigo flight?

30kg means that you get 30kg in total - could be 30 - 1kg items or 1 - 30kg item.
Doubt indigo will allow online check-in.
