According to the papers this morning there's Qantas industrial action on in Melbourne again today - there's nothing on the Qantas homepage about which flights are likely to be disrupted, anyone got any info?

And is it likely flights elsewhere in the network may be affected (i.e. waiting on incoming aircraft?)

Yes, apparently the cabin crew have decided to provide poor service and the people who run the WiFi in the QF lounges have set it to half speed.

Awesome, thank you. And lol at Russ.

I'm booked on a Virgin flight at around the same time as my Qantas flight today just in case - I might wait and see whether there's an update later this morning before I cancel one.

I wonder if there will be any knock on effects across the network... Is it bad that I look on cancellations as an opportunity for an OpUp on my flight as they squeeze people onto other flights?

That's what I'm wondering... I've been status matched on virgin, but because they match the expiry date and it's more than 12 months, there's no point earning SC on virgin at the mo... I think I'll stick with Qantas for today and see what happens.

Are you sure about that regarding the date of the match? VA have a rolling status qualification process and the matches we have seen have a 12 months from date of match expiry...

You're right, I just logged in to check - I could have sworn they had status matched me for the whole period, but they haven't - it's 12 months, as you said.

I fly enough that I should be able to maintain Platinum on both Virgin and Qantas - and as I have no chance of getting to the level of additional benefits on Qantas, might as well fly Virgin for the next month and a bit... hmmm.

Not changing today's flight but may well change a few over the coming weeks.

I was thinking the same thing. I am flying on QF632. Which is the MEL-BNE flight immediately before the delayed QF634 flight. I am thinking a few passengers from the delayed flight will be moved onto this one. Normally there are usually 5 or 6 WPs who normally take flight QF632 in Y on a Friday. I am thinking I better sacrifice a goat to the OpUp gods on the way to the airport.

Funny but so true!!

Though in fairness, much of the poor in cabin service is related to under-resourcing, presumably to help fund Herr Joyce's obscene bonuses!

I am guessing your user name is very close to your view of the world...

How is it that DJ have the same number of FAs but aren't under resourced?

On recent news updates and news articles, if Qantas does not approve to the union's demands, they will strike everyday for 12 months, and they will make it worse and worse. Good luck to the Unions!

Will Qantas now consider bringing in that once wannabe president of the ILO, strikebreaker Bob Hawke for advice and assistance? He has some experience in the field'

Jack you have a lot to learn on industrial action.. It won't happen. Workers couldn't afford to go without pay!

Looks like my flight is impacted as it is now 30 mins delayed exADL... I already upgraded to J using point (got my 50K/2400SC bonus yesterday so I am feeling flush ;))
