QANTAS International Red Tail sale

Is there a method to get the Intl Red Tail Sales Fare ontop of the DSC? If its the usual method, would that not trigger the DSC as its still the same PNR?

Then again... what are 'good flights' out of Perth... best I can see is Bali; but that's pretty much just an extension of Western Australia 🤣 🤣

Last DSC promo only covered period to October.
DSC promos at best give a flying window of a little under 12 months, so that was the best that could’ve been expected when that promo dropped.

I agree that if booked through to then already it’d be difficult to find things to book under the new sale.

You have to do it in the opposite direction.
ah so the BAU DSC PNR route; just have to wait for a Intl Red Tail Fare(?) I've never done this before but from understanding this flight credit as to be for the same fare type or higher.

If I have Y, can I get Business Sales fare (as its the next class up) or does it have to be J-class?

J class simply means Business and doesn't refer to a specific fare bucket. So to answer your question, yes, it can be a J sale fare.

Not sure TBH.

But SYD-LHR F for $13.8k is getting a little closer to the precovid $9k! 😁

The sub $4k PE fare is pretty competitive.

Some interesting numbers for CR+ on some routes.

Last seasons lowest F Fare Sydney-LHR sale fare was $13,501

I know this cause I was tracking it in the hope I might buy it. But JAL had an even lower F fare and it got me into Europe !

I cancelled a domestic J ticket and wanted to redeem the credit towards an international PE fare. Qantas online booking kept giving me a 500 error msg. I rang to make the booking and to redeem the credit and was quoted a fare $600 more expensive than I had (multiple times) found online via Google flights and the Qantas website.
I was then told if I redeem a flight credit the fare wouldn't be matched and that is how Qantas have always applied flight credits. Really!? New paid fares are always cheaper than when applying a credit. I refused to make the booking.
Any advice?
Anyone had this experience as well?

Wrong. Hang up and call again. The booking engine for flight credit redemptions is known to not always reflect what you can otherwise find on the website. The call centre should be able to book in what you are seeing on the site (assuming the seats are still there).

Data point: I did exactly this last week - flight credit redeemed on a fare that was not reflecting in the booking engine. No issues and no charge for the assisted booking.

I also use a credit voucher to book the HNL PE sale fare directly via the CV portal last night.

However, despite the booking reflecting the new flights, the payment didn’t go through - not rejected and no indication there was issue other than no pending authorisation popping up on my phone apps etc and no eTicket…. Rang this morning and had it processed manually.

Thx DejaBrew and also SYD.

Called again. Still the same fare quoted, $600 more than on the QF website. Call centre lady asked me to refresh and find the new fare she could see. I still had the cheaper fare. So ended the call.
Went back to the 'redeem voucher' page and magically this time it worked AND I could book the fare I wanted.
So now QF call centre can't see sale fares? Clearly you have to be one step ahead.

Happy with the outcome finally. What's the saying? 'If you want something done right, do it yourself'?

Was this the Australian CS or overseas CS? I heard that (on top of training) the overseas teams may not be able to see directly. There is a way around it (like always of course) but they need to know the crux of their system - which is far and few between :(

I think it was overseas. Can't always tell (although you can if it's Hobart! Gold stars always to them) and I didn't think to ask today.
