Qantas lounge access at Tokyo Narita

The showers at NRT are shared with the Sakura (J) lounge so they are never immediately available, but F lounge pax jump the queue ahead of J and there's usually been one available within 15-20 minutes in my experience.

You join the queue on your phone and receive an SMS/email when a shower is ready, then head down to the floor below (there's a lift inside the lounge that takes you down to the showers)

As you'd expect from J showers, the cubicles are small but functional enough:

The NRT F lounge is mostly dining focussed with a la carte dishes and sushi ordered via QR code and delivered to your table. There isn't as much relaxation/lounging space as there is at HND.

The NRT F Satellite lounge used to be the spot to go for relaxing but I believe that was shuttered during covid and hasn't reopened.

There is apparently a shoe polish service hidden down on the 3rd floor (near the showers) but I haven't used it personally. The shoe polish service marked on the 4th floor was closed when I passed through in January.

All part of the much reduced Qantas service levels, despite the fact they charge more and like us to believe it is worth it over their budget carrier, Jetstar.

Hi all,

I've recently booked QF79/80 MEL-NRT-MEL for early next year. Never been to Japan before so am unfamiliar with the airports. I'm aware QF used to operate a lounge at NRT but that it has permanently closed in recent times.

The Qantas website still lists the Qantas Business Lounge at NRT as the only lounge available there (even though it is permanently closed). On the manage booking section of the QF app, where lounge access is usually displayed, no lounge is shown on the NRT-MEL ticket, contrary to the MEL-NRT ticket that lists the J Lounge in MEL.

Does anyone have any intel on whether lounge access will be available on the ground in NRT? Perhaps QF is still sorting it out ahead of the official launch of the NRT route (currently QF79/80 are MEL-HND-MEL before swapping to NRT) - although that's likely to be wishful thinking.

In any case, I will report back once I take the trip.

Many thanks
There appears to be a lot of outdated information here. There is a new Aspire lounge near the Qantas departure gates. If you are a Qantas club member you are welcomed.

Cathay Pacific lounge at Narita is very nice. Relaxed, stylish, small but good selection of food, decent bar, views of the tarmac.

Haha, I’d have a drink with you except I’ve moved to the JAL First downstairs saloon bar. No windows but lovely and quiet. Don’t know if I can guest (OW Emerald flying QF Business) - if I can and you’d like to check it out, just let me know.

Just tried to access EK lounge SG flying out on QF80 in Y. Denied access on account that it is an outstation lounge and EK do not have a codeshare on the route.

I think you were incorrectly denied...

Agree but the dragons weren't having a bar of it. Asked for a feedback card so I could send an email. Went to the Sakura lounge and thankfully the wait for a shower was not too long. I couldn't find anything on the Emirates website pointing to the access rules and the QF page is also not the most clear...

Cathay lounge food offering was average, Piper Champagne though. No time in the end to test the Aspire lounge.

At Narita atm: I am flying AY74 to HEL as WP, and was directed to the JAL F Lounge, no problem guesting in Little Mr (who is QF Silver).

Whilst the QF flight from BNE was on time, it got delayed and some QF pax was also waiting in the JAL F Lounge until it closed at 2200. After that, there does not seem any OW Lounge at Narita.

Yeh seems to be the case - I think the AY flight is literally the last flight scheduled out and the airport has a hard midnight curfew. So you probably only have half an hour or so to kill after the lounge closes before boarding?

Correct, there is only one ANA plane leaving later, and the rest is cargo.

I ran into a similar situation prior to QF25 (SYD to HND) earlier in the year - was denied access to the EK lounge at SYD on the basis it was not a codeshare route (even though SG at the time and CR J ticket).
The only reference I could easily find regarding this rule was on the QF website on the page relating to EK:
Eligible customers and their guests booked on a Qantas flight number on the codeshare routes can access the following lounges. Eligible customers can also access Emirates Lounges across Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East when flying on eligible Qantas or Emirates flights with a QF or EK flight number on your ticket.
IMO EK should also put up similar wording on their website on lounge access rules since as you say this isn't clearly and explicitly stated on their website.

I finally found the page that spells out the QFF access rules for EK lounges, and there is no mention of codesharing, but the problem remains that it’s QF stating the rule for entry into EK’s lounge

  • When travelling on a flight with a Qantas (QF) or Emirates (EK) flight number on your ticket.
  • Emirates Lounges throughout Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East - and Business Lounge in Dubai - whenever you fly with Qantas or Emirates.

Hi we are flying business Narita to melb on Qantas issued ticket. I was wondering are we able to use any other lounge apart from Aspire at Narita. Lowly bronze.

If the flight is on Qantas, you'll have access to the Cathay Pacific lounge and Japan Airlines Sakura lounge as well.
