I’m curious if this is a new rule (enhancement) but this afternoon I was told that lounge access on arrival as a platinum is limited to the 60 minutes after arrival.

For the record I was told this in Townsville trying to access the lounge same day as a platinum 4hrs 30mins after arrival on a Qantas flight (before an onwards flight on a different airline).

No where online does this 60 minute rule exist (unlike Virgin which does) so this is why I’m curious if it’s just an individual lounge making up rules or an actual rule.

On the Platinum benefit page it lists the following which seems to go against what they’re saying. Has anyone else come across such situation?
Arrivals: Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer members may access Qantas Domestic Business or Qantas Club lounges upon arrival, if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar (JQ, 3K or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU) or a oneworld member airline marketed and operated flight number on your ticket.

mean to be fair if you asked me whether accessing the lounge 4h30m after your flights counts as "after arrival", I'd say no.
I agree (and didn’t question the answer at the lounge) but at the same time don’t publish it as arrival that day if it’s only 60 minutes or worse… let random cities make up different rules.

A couple of weeks ago, I rocked up 8 hrs after arrival.
Welcome back Sir.
As it should be, as far as I can tell that is the published policy.

On my most recent visit to the (rather small) TSV lounge it was packed to capacity

Ah. So, not actually using the QF lounge ‘on arrival’, but accessing it prior to a VA flight? ;)
