Yes, based on Oneworld rules you are allowed to use the QF F lounge.
However, on a practical level you will not be able because they are usually not open during the QR departure times.

Oh really? Damn didn't know that. Do you know what the current opening hours are?

The website only says "until the last scheduled Qantas departure" ( see here) and my understanding is that the late QR departures are well outside of this window.

Might be ok according to day.
SYD opens at 0430 the days QF67 operates otherwise it’s 0630 and then closes 1100
Opens again at 1245 until last QF flight. The LAX flight leaves around the same time as QR does

If the QF lounge is closed (for MEL), surely QR provides an invitation to one of the other lounges for J and OWE passengers?

It seems like QF93 is scheduled to leave MEL at exactly the same time as the QR flight (22.55)?

MEL yes but in SYD QF11 to LAX departs around the same time

It seems the LAX flight from MEL and SYD depart approx the same time? Unless I'm seeing something incorrectly?

I believe MEL-LAX is only operating 3 days per week at this stage.
If you fly out on those days you would be in luck

The evening B787 departure is only departing 3-4 days a week (seems to be MWF, but there was also a departure yesterday, Sunday, and not one today, so I am not entirely clear). There is also an A330 freight run using the same code QF93, same city pairs MEL-LAX, but leaving around 11:00 am, on alternate days to the B787 passenger.

I wonder if anyone else is using the Qantas lounge in London. I just spotted this on the Etihad website and despite the obvious spelling error it seems Etihad is using the Qantas lounge for their EY12 (8am) and EY20 (12:20pm) departures from London.

Even more amusing is that because VA and EY are still partners, VA Gold and Platinum members should have access to the Qantas lounge prior to travelling on EY12 or EY20.

Just flew out this week on JQ7 MEL-SIN, some observations about my experience in QF lounge:
- No QF lounge available in T2 (Int) as no QF departures. Fortunately I knew about this and instead went to the domestic lounge as SG (and in any event, immigration and security weren't even open by the time I finished check in. Nb: when I eventually made it to T2, I used Priority Pass at Cafe Sol for a sit down and consume cider and some takeaway F&B for the flight.
- As I reached the Qantas Club it was about to close, so instead directed to the Business Lounge.
- First time visiting business lounge in many years, but definitely felt catering was sub-par compared to visit to the Qantas Club in Perth in September 2021 at the same time of day (around 11:30am-12:30pm) Maybe because of no self service still in MEL.

Did you try Spice Bar?

Did you try Spice Bar?

Yes I did. Wouldn't exactly rave about it. The offer was noodles with a few shreds of chicken and some green garnish. Nothing too exciting, although that's coming from the perspective of someone who makes that sort of dish as a quick lunch in <5 mins using supermarket bought noodles and some chilli oil/vinegar or gets at a hawker stall for $3...

Does anyone know what the deal is with guest passes to the Qantas Lounge in LHR? I have transferred a General Lounge Pass to my daughter who is flying back on QF10 this week. However when she tries to link the pass to her flight she gets a message saying linking is unavailable to Partner operated lounges in Los Angeles and London Heathrow. Surely the Qantas lounge in LHR is not classified as a partner lounge?

The passes are now accepted in the QF London Lounge. The website has been updated to reflect this change. Unfortunately it seems that the IT systems have not. I would phone QF to get this attached to her booking.

Thanks Princess Fiona!. I did ring the premium line this morning and they couldn't fix it so they transferred me to a FF centre who said they couldn't fix it either and put me on a general queue until I gave up waiting

Should be possible:
  • Complimentary Lounge Invitations will not be accepted at all lounges. Lounges which are currently accepting Complimentary Lounge Invitations include; The Qantas International London Lounge.

just spoke to the Platinum line again , they are insisting now that lounge invites are unable to be linked to bookings for the LHR lounge atm due to restrictions in place.

That is strange as I actually had a lounge pass linked to a LHR EK metal QF flight number until last week. Had to cancel as EK metal is no good to travel and stay in Singapore. That was a fun discussion with South Africa...
