It's still just another lottery though, except for QF who are monetizing something they hadn't been able to sell anyway but it's another perk that from a customer perspective comes with no guarantees ( may not get offered the seat, may not stick, some chance the seat would have been vacant anyway. Don't understand why they (or any other airline) doesn't make comfort seats easier to buy (ie on line)
The NZ system seems to work ok. The first few rows are guaranteed middle seat free and anyone who selects that zone pays extra.
Seems like they show some respect to their customers.
Bit of a win for the cheapskate on the other sidethinking about it, who else thinks the cheeky buggers will let the middle seat get sold twice?
Not sure if it’s respect or just the service they provide.
Call it what you like, it is a worthy product that QF is obviously choosing to ignore (I know ANZ don't (always?) have J on the aircraft but this is a Y offering (except in Europe)!
Hopefully cabin crew will be better trained to police this. I assume because it's supposed to be printed on your boarding pass, that person would be evicted by the cabin crew. I didn't have a very pleasant experience with having an intruder once deciding to swap into a comfort seat that I had booked (an entirely different concept I know, although with the same premise). The cabin crew were almost reluctant to deal with it until I politely insisted they called the CSM over but were full of apologies once they realised what had happened.
Yes, the centre seat remained empty PER-DRW. Likewise on my return flight BME-PER I also had a ghost seat, one of only a few empty seats on a full flight.
Yep, thats another consideration.
