Qantas New Check In Seating Allocation

But you are also a QF Gold although I am not certain this would show up in the booking if you have only provided your AA number.
I keep my QF FF number as far away from the booking as possible. As far as the Qantas reservation system is concerned, I am a OneWorld Emerald who has requested an Aisle seat.

I was allocated 13D on a 734 for tomorrow morning. Changed it to 10C which was the most forward Aisle I was offered. Its a 90 min domestic flight, so it really does not make much difference to me.

Note that I am not complaining. I am just stating the facts as they relate to my experience so others can draw whatever conclusion they like.

I did not mean to offend you in any way. I know you are a Oneworld Emerald and I am still interested in finding out how this new seat allocation system is treating the various statuses. It would appear so far that Oneworld Emeralds, unless your flights a full of QF Platinums, do not get the same treatment as QF Platinums.

i did my first QF domestic sector in a long time on sat SYD-MEL on a 737-800 and asked for an exit row but i think she forgot as there was an issue with my booking. When that was resolved I received 4F which was nice as is first time I have ever had row 4 in a 737, ever and I have been platinum for about 4 years. Maybe the new seating system is going to play me some nice cards or maybe it was because my QF2 was delayed and they were looking after me, who knows why the computer does what it does. I noticed a WP boarding in front of me and he was in 4A so it does appear the new system is working.

I used OLCI for QF626 MEL-BNE yesterday (checked in about 4 hours before flight) and was allocated 4C (WP with aisle/forward preference). This was my best seating for awhile, so thought the new system will be good :), although this was a 16.05 departure, so not the most crowded.

Then checked in at the airport for return flight QF 625 (about 1 hour before flight) and was allocated 8C, which is about where I normally end up. Checked availability of seats and everything forward of me was blanked out. As this was a sparsely filled 14.50 departure, this did not seem so good :(.

So in my case the jury is still out on whether it is a better system or not.

The system has gone crazy again.

Just went on to on-line checkin for flight Mel-Hob for tomorrow morning for two of us [ booked together ], and my wife and I have
1/ WP -Forward Aisle
2/ Gold - Forward Window

Online checkin comes up with

me - 4C
Wife - 7D

Can anyone explain that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they want to separate us then why didn't she get a Window as per profile.

Wonder what the seats will be on way back on early monday flight.

Just checked in online for my SYD to MEL 14:30 tomorrow. First row of economy/bulkhead (763) aisle seat. So seems to work well for me. I am WP

Seems to be working well for SINGLE Travelling persons. Maybe it was made for single business persons.

Well, I checked in for 769 to PER earlier and had been allocated 3F (again !). changed to 1st row as seats were available.

When I checked in for tonights flight (QF648 PER-MEL) I had been pre allocated 1A which was in accordance with my requests for this flight. ie Forward Window. :D

.... so far showing as on time.

My last three flights have been 5C, 5C and 5C.

(Everytime you fly, you almost certainly will be sitting in a different seat.....)

Mrs Pyffii and I flew Melbourne - Brisbane last night and OLCI gave us 6D & 6E so no real difference to our previous seating experience

Took my first domestic flight on Wednesday since the introduction of the new OLCI seat allocation. Pre-allocated 8D on a 738 when I did OLCI, which is pretty much where I always get pre-allocated.

Was able to change to 4D though when doing OLCI.

Had an interesting situation Sunday evening. I was allocated 8C on the SYD-BNE flight. At first look the passengers in row 4,5,6.7 aisles did not look like status passengers. What does a status passenger look like? I thought nothing of it and and 8B was vacant anyway.

Came time for the snack service and both the person in 8A and myself were welcomed and referred to by our names. As far as I can tell the FA did not have a passenger list with the drink cart and we were the only passengers that were given this treatment. Interesting that she memorised both names and she actually pronounced my name correctly which is not an easy task....

Hmmm. Has anyone noticed any changes in the last week or so? My last 3 flights I have been allocated 9C on 737 and 28D and 45D on 767! The checkin lady mentioned that it was a full flight which I find doubtful as I have sequence #117. She asked if I wanted exit row and was given new boarding pass for 34B.

What is happening with the new checkin system? If not a Platinum, who is sitting in the first few rows in economy? Is it possible my QF profile been blacklisted due to my complaints about constant late flights? Oh well, can't do anything about it now....

Have the quantity of your forward bookings dropped? Say - 4 flights have been taken, and no new ones booked?
I have only booked 1 flight recently. I have 15 current bookings to take me through to the end of the year.

Not sure what happened yesterday as the aircraft was lightly loaded and there was heaps of aisle seats available in the forward economy cabin. I think all of row 24, 25, 26, 30 and then many oher aisle seats forward of 45D. I find it strange that the check in agent could only offer 42D before allocating me exit row. I was speaking to an FA before the flight and he mentioned that no one in the forward economy cabin had any status and I could move to any seat I wanted. I decided to stay in 34B with vacant 34A.

Weight distribution might explain apparent overall passenger seating pattern on lightly loaded aircraft and possibly lack of options for check in staff, but not JohnK's apparent fall from QF's grace!?
