There was at least one bright spot in the on time department

JQ970Perth 20:45 20:46 Departed

:)

About now I'd settle for a hotel room. I've been up since 0545 and flown about 5 hrs and driven about 4 hrs myself today :!:

Yeah, that isn't good. Plus sleeping onboard won't be easy even in J. Hope the trip works out well.

First I got an email from QF regarding my feedback that I did not quite understand. It mentioned international schedule changes and I have no idea how that would impact SYD-BNE-SYD domestic flights. For some reason they also felt that I wanted compensation. Far from it. I would like for QF to acknowledge they have issues and try to sort them out.

Then I got a call and went into the issues in a little more detail. I guess they did some investigation on the flights and days I experienced the delays. It is amazing what is reported to QF head office by gate staff for actual delays. Not even close to the truth.

Bill's flight is showing as eventually departing at 23:50 and arriving at 01:59. So a very long day for him .

QF653 was operated by ZXC, departed 23:50, arrived 01:59 (03:59 Sale time)

It also flew the inbound QF476 which departed PER 200 minutes late at 17:10, arriving into MEL at 22:51.

It took 59 minutes to turn it around.

Then surely they knew at least 4 hours earlier that it was going to be late departing MEL .

They did offer straitman an earlier flight. Maybe the offer didn;t come as early as it should have...

Yes not quite early enough for me to react. They first rang at 1730 and offered the 1840 flight. A bit hard as I was still on the eastern side of Melbourne (Dandenong).

Oh well, I did manage to have dinner with an ex Cathay pilot friend so not all was lost. ;)

Push back was at 2350 with takeoff at midnight. Flight time was going to be a quick 3hr 20min but we encountered turbulence so had to change levels to higher and consequently slower to the increased jetstream at higher levels. Baggage collection was really pretty quick, especially for PER. :D

Some good advice for anyone commuting SYD-BNE weekly. Do not book yourself on the same flights I am booked.

Most QF flights have been going well today and then all of a sudden QF555, due to take off 19:45, has not boarded yet. It looks like taking off after QF557. Am I jinxed? Will I be sober to drive to golf course at 6:45am tommorrow morning?

I had 2 lots of relatives flying into PER yesterday and both flights were early by 15-20 min. (one from MEL and one from CBR)

...... and of eight QF flights listed to arrive in PER tonight only one is indicating late (15 min) at this time. Of the others one is listed as on time and the others are EARLY :!:

ps my real reason for looking this up is to see if my 2335 red eye is likely to be on time.

The jetstream must be favorable; vh-ebk departed SYD as 583 15 minutes late and is due to arrive 5 minutes early at 22:15 ere it becomes your 23:35 chariot home

Other than that the jetstream seems to be benign this evening as there does not appear to be a general pattern of delays in either direction.
