Qantas on-time performance

The jetstream must be favorable; vh-ebk departed SYD as 583 15 minutes late and is due to arrive 5 minutes early at 22:15 ere it becomes your 23:35 chariot home

Other than that the jetstream seems to be benign this evening as there does not appear to be a general pattern of delays in either direction.
Thanks serfty,

Works for me. A quiet Jetstream may mean a slightly slower trip home however it probably also means a smoother trip home :!:

I chekced out the refurbished Int QP in SYD yesterday. Some v. unhappy passengers in there as QF107 was cancelled (?) and some were almost yelling.

Very un-QP like behaviour!

And I am predicting that QF555 will be late again tonight. Last week it was only 45 minutes late and landed at the same time as QF557.

With 75 min to go it is still showing as on time.
I am shocked as well. The lady at checkin felt sorry for me and was going to move me to an earlier flight but they are all very much full.

At this stage QF555 is due to be on time as QF602 has just landed. I think this week it is the turn for QF551 to be late, at least 75 minutes late. I wonder how many passengers from QF551 are going to be transferred onto QF555 to ensure that we leave late again. After all it has been late 6 weeks in a row and don't want to spoil a good record....

Unfortunately QF551 has been cancelled and they have been trying to get everyone on that flight to the last 4 remaining flights.

My name was announced to see the service desk and they swapped my boarding pass with 4D on it for a boarding pass with 1D. Wish there was a way to update the profile to say aisle preference in economy and window preference in business. ;)

Flight may be now be a little late but I get free Crown Lager on board....

Interesting.

QF551 was definitely cancelled. They were paging people in the lounge and op-uped a fair few people on the other flights to business class and managed to fit everyone from QF551, I think, onto the other flights.

This is where performance data really gets me and means absolutely nothing. We did not start boarding until 19:47 and I was on the aircraft just after 20:00. I heard the announcement that we were have completed boarding and went to switch off my mobile phone at 20:04 and this time is very accurate to the second. The doors were closed right away and push back did not happen until 20:15. I looked at the watch of the lady sitting in 1F. Then the safety demonstration and long taxi and we were finally in the air around 20:25. Arrived in SYD at 21:34 and got to the gate at 21:44.

How do they get away with publishing utter rubbish? Actual departure of 20:04! Actual departure is not when you close the doors, and it should not even be when you push back and wait and wait. If this is how they measure the measure they are sadly mistaken. As far as I am concerned QF555 took off around 0:30 minutes late and landed 0:29 minutes late. Not good enough. This may well be acceptable to many people but not to me. Problem is I am booked on this flight until the end of the year and more than likely next year as well if I stay in BNE.

I made a mistake earlier, this is now 6 weeks in a row this flight is late. Todays excuse was that the crew was late. The aircraft actually arrived on time but the crew from MEL arrived late on another aicraft. They were also going to do the last SYD-MEL flight for the night. I know it is not easy to run an airline but crying poor, increasing fuel surcharges and airfares, record profits and they can't get their schedules in order. QF is lucky they have suckers like me who continue to give them business....

QF551 was originally to be operated by a 763 which, yesterday, was routed SYD-BNE-DRW-BNE-SYD-PER, the second last leg as QF551.

All was fine until it reached DRW, albeit 22 minutes late.

It was due to depart DRW at 13:35, but has some issues that caused a delay; initially the delay was indeterminate and Qantas considered canceling it. I guess in BNE they commenced making other arrangement should that occur, hence the upgrade. They DID find another 763 to operate SYD-PER (QF573).

In the end QF825 departed DRW some 112 minutes late; arriving into BNE at 19:33.

So John, instead of getting a complimentary Cityflyer VB you got a Crownie or two and probably some better food.

I guess it could have been worse !

You are right. Getting home safely is always the most important thing. It does get a little frustrating to get to the airport early only to experience constant delays. I seriously need to reconsider my flight options for next year. It may have to be the 2:15pm, or 1:15pm during AEDST, departure on a Friday afternoon which means I will have to leave work around 11:30am at the latest. No problem I can make up the time during the week.

Perhaps QF could use the extra money from their latest annual profit to buy some spare aircraft. And I mean spare aircraft. So in major airports where flights are delayed have an aircraft ready to go and then use the late incoming aircraft as the spare aircraft.

What if it is delayed due to crew issues? Should they also have spare crew standing around? ;)

Possibly. Do they currently have crew on standby? If so, then they could use the standby crew if there are real long delays like serfty mentioned happened in DRW yesterday.

I don't QF need a reason to increase airfares. Record profits, huge drop in crude oil prices and still have not rolled back the last fuel surcharge increase....
