Qantas Oneworld phantom rewards

I’m getting severe phantom issues on QF metal on flights to the US. Have received a whole calendar in May/June of premium economy and some business all of which can’t be booked. Have been in touch with Qantas who say try booking again in 24-48 hours after availability has been updated.......

Try repeatedly on sms. If they claim phantom, just thank them and wait til they complete the call. Then try again. Quicker than phoning unless you have platinum status.

Adding flights for the Call Centre is not exactly rocket science.

They need to fix what they have done. Follow this up daily, or even more often.

If you don't get an Oz or Kiwi accent, HUCA in my opinion. I hope that you weren't patched through to SA. :(

Edit: Phone in the mornings, from about 6.30am, when Oz may answer. Never at night, or you'll need extra luck.
Got a lovely kiwi after about 24 hours of lazy consultants who did nothing for me. The Nz consultant immediately apologised and said she would talk to her senior to get this sorted out quick smart. I asked her if she could add some other flights and waive the change fee and she cheerfully did that.

oddly the kids now have duplicate Cathay flights booked which we will probably sort out at the airport (it might be easier) or it might get fixed automatically...

Will try again on SMS but did try on both SMS and in app chat with the same response. Did try EF and note no availability so truely phantom?

I got that a few months back - heaps of PE and J availability, every day, for a month or so - I think it was to the US. I couldn't didn't believe my luck. Sure enough, as soon as I got to the payment page the first time, it error-ed out. Lasted for a bit more than a day then disappeared, so I didn't think it was cleared in a 'system update' - just an IT error.

I am also having issues with phantom QF flights 343 to 353 days out for LHR-SYD and LAX-SYD. I can see lots of availability on the qantas search. Theres one added every day but 5 calls and agent still says they can't see anything. I even got a Kiwi once and he couldn't help. Keep trying?

Is it possible to just book it online and have them move it to your itinerary? (wishful thinking)

Yes, very wishful.

Have you tried to do a dummy booking, on-line, as a stand alone award flight, points only? If so, how far will it let you proceed? Can you get to the stage just before confirmation/payment? This may not really prove anything, as the test may be after the confirm/payment stage, where it it may be rejected.

However, if you do try this, be careful not to proceed to actually confirm/pay.

I went all the way to the 'check' page so just before booking and payment. No problems at all

Yes I booked a number of AA flights this way, when they were available to book on aa.com and qantas.com but manually qantas calls it a phantom. Its ridiculous, and it begs the question why dont they fix their website so people can book/change their flights online and save the phone team for truly difficult issues.

That's my suspicion but still can't solve it, it's been 5 phone calls so far..

For well over a week I've been seeing plenty of phantom F availability on JL showing on the QF website. The agents I've spoken with say it probably just takes a little time for the system to catch up which at least in these situations is completely false.

I too have noticed phantom availability. Search for F LHR-SYD in August 2022. Several dates are displayed, it lists BA15, however you cannot complete ticketing.

The flights are not available on BA or AA’s website or EF.

I believe BA is having an issue with USA as POS according to EF, but this is only relevant to AA.

The calendar had me excited trying to book an RTW in F.
99% of the seats are phantom and the only way to get a semi-accurate view is to search on BA. Reported a few times to the QF Aus call centre in December while trying (unsuccessfully) to make a booking. New year, no joy!

They aren't phantom - I can see them all and confirm the seats. You might need to book over the phone.
Visible online but if you call up they can't see the seats at all. Mostly confusion with the staff except for the select few who say "oh yeah, they're not real".

Note that I said I could confirm the seats - that means I can get them saved into a PNR. I haven't had a problem booking JL F awards using QFF.

A current affair? Surely getting a prime time dissing would upset the applecart…

These are phantom seats. Situation with QFF searches has become absolutely insane and noticed in the last week it's beyond a joke.

SYD-LHR shows similar for F and there are none in August. Confirmed via EF and BA.

Ridiculous situation.
