Qantas online Mall, cookies and points

I received the same 5 points per dollar for a DJ purchase in November, today. I noticed that the T&Cs state -

Double Qantas Points will be awarded for every valid purchase (no minimum spend) with retailers via the Online Mall between 31 Oct 14 and 31 Dec 14. Bonus points earned during the Promotion Period will be credited to the member’s account up to 12 weeks after the purchase.

Thanks so much for finding that. I'd been unable to find anything stating that the bonus points wouldn't post at the same time.

I have just emailed [email protected] as I had some invoice attachments to forward, as evidence for my claim/enquiry. I'm hoping that it will eventually get to the right place.

Points for both Apple and ebay purchases have now posted to my QFF account, but both are incorrect. The ebay purchase (was small) but posted at exactly half of the expected 4 points per dollar. The points for the Apple purchase (meant to be 5 points per dollar) did not make any obvious sense at all and is well less than half of the almost 12,000 points expected.

Edit: Regardless of when the bonus points post, my points for Apple make no sense at this stage, even at the non-bonus rate. Hopefully, I will receive advice of how the calculation has been done.

There are quite a few exclusions from the Apple Store purchases so it may depend on what you got and whether or not any of them were pre-orders (all are excluded from points earn).

OK. Thanks.

I've tried to calculate it every way possible, as to what may be included/excluded. but nothing adds up at the moment.

GST?
Apple don't pay points on taxes.

Meanwhile I still haven't even got an email for a purchase on 30/Nov, let alone points...

My DJs points just posted but they seem to be only 5 points per dollar not 10 as advertised. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, I have posted several instances above.
The reason for it is that the "bonus" points will take up to 12 weeks to post.

Thanks for the info PrincessFiona. I thought that they may be a later addition but was rather tired when I saw the points post and didn't go back to the original T&Cs or obviously go back through the thread. My apologies, as I was very slack. Even if I had done a quick peruse up the page it would have saved you having to post again. You have the patience of a saint.

No worries, I didn't see anything about it in the T&C's either and was pretty cross when they didn't post as expected.

Big thanks to Lorry for pointing them out to us both :)

Hi DC3,
I emailed the same address and never got a response so I talked to AFF's own RedRoo who kindly explained:
Standard Qantas Points for Apple (2 points per $1 spent) will be awarded up to 30 days after the purchase i.e. $2049 x 2 Qantas Points. All Double Points bonus will be applied up to 60 days after the purchase via Online Mall (5 points per $1 spent).

The Double Points offer from 31 Oct - 31 Dec is included in the 5 points for every $1 spent with Apple, therefore the total amount to be received for this transaction is 10,245 ($2049 x 5 points).

Say that again, PaulST?

I wonder first how 'double' of the original 2 pts/$ becomes 5 and I don't understand the second bit at all. t looks like a direct copy from an e-mail you received - do you understand what they are saying? I an't find the wording now, but for Apple purchases I'm sure it was stated in terms of 10 points/$ not some 'double' type wording.

HI RooFlyer, yep that was a copy from the message.

So my understanding is that the 2 points per dollar, which is the normal earn ($2049 x 2 ), will arrive within 30 days, and then the extra points (from the 5 points per dollar earn Christmas special, but obviously minus the points I've already received at 30 days) will arrive around 60 days after the purchase. So for me, I'll receive ~ 4098 after 30 days, and then another 6147 after 60 days.

And that 10 points per dollar spend was for David Jones, not the Apple Store which had a max earn of 5 points per $1. You could actually buy Apple products through David Jones, but I wanted a specification that DJ didn't offer.

That's my understanding anyway.

I'm still waiting for a response to my email to QFF as well. Thanks for your recent posts with feedback on this, PaulST.

My Apple store purchase from early December has posted at 2.5x rate of the (purchase - tax). I guess in another 30 days (60 days after purchase) I'll receive the remainder?

I have no idea why they can't just get it right at once. It's such a waste of time having to track these points "installments".

Points posted - will wait it out for the bonus

Ditto - base on 5 Jan, bonus on 8 Jan. I could have sworn (and I did :) ) that Apple transactions were 10 pts/$ but I was corrected up thread. Just as well I wanted the items, because frankly it was a meagre harvest.

After two week sent an email request to their support department to do a manual claim, I just received their reply from QFF service state as:

If you met all the requirements listed below you should have received an email from Qantas confirming a successful purchase. If you didn't receive the confirmation email, it's most likely that your transaction is ineligible or the confirmation email has been filtered as junk or spam by your mailbox. In this case, please check your junk mail and spam folders.

The essential requirements for a Qantas Mall purchase are:

- you must log in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account before making the purchase
- your web browser cookies must be enabled
- you must not open other browser windows or go to other sites before completing the transaction
- the transaction must be completed in one web browsing session (ie; don't close your browser and resume at a later time)

If any of the above conditions weren't met, a mall purchase is ineligible for Qantas Points.

In order to investigate missing points for eligible purchases made more than 30 days ago we require a copy of the email you received from Qantas confirming a successful purchase.
I'm sorry to tell you that the documentation you've sent us can't be used to claim points.

If I have received the confirmation email from them, why should I bother to ask a manual claim. Does that mean they are politely telling me to get lost, points will not be given.
