Qantas partnership with BP

Today's offer:

I'd take it up, but I still haven't received any of the bonus points promised from previous BP promotions.

If you fancy, never looked that closely at the economics. If I buy say 40 litres - a tankful for Mrs Pineapple’s small car that uses regular unleaded - that would be say $6.00 extra for 98 octane ultimate which you need for the 200 points. Does that still work?

Pineapple’s diesel car seems better value as the local serv only supplies ‘ultimate‘ diesel at the regular pump. Regular diesel, which isn’t much cheaper, only comes out of the high flow pumps.

You could of course go for the minimum delivery - usually something like 2/5 of a litre - to get the 200 points for minimal outlay, seems within the rules. IIRC there was an Amex promo once (and never again) that had people making huge numbers of tiny purchases for a similar reason. Although IIRC this is a once off.

cheers skip

I have one vehicle that needs to use 98 ultimate. If there are bonuses when ultimate is purchased then it is worth the few pennies extra that BP would charge for the 98 octane on a $20 purchase. At the moment, the difference is that some of the locals have 4c/liter discounts available while the base prices are within a few cents/liter.

Occasionally worth wandering

New offer:
Get 250 bonus Qantas Points when you next pay for fuel with BPme.

I'd take it up, but I still haven't received any of the bonus points promised from previous BP promotions.

Same for me: neither did I get my status credits for signing up and linking my QF account. And I wasted a number of hours chasing up BP by email and phone; all to no avail.

I won't be taking up the latest offer (or any others for that matter) until I receive the points promised in previous promotions.

I've now made use of two recent offers ("fill up with Ultimate for 200 points" and "pay with BPme for 250 points") and it seems bonus points are combined with the base 1-2c per litre earn and credited to QFF in a single transaction.

BP tend to charge a 10-20c premium in my area but they'll probably get my business for these sort of offers. The BPme app looks good for ensuring offers are correctly activated and for tracking bonus points. Activated promotions are shown on the home screen (similar to the flybuys app) and each transaction shows the points breakdown.

It's worth setting up BPme before heading to the pump for the first time - it's necessary to "relink" BPrewards with BPme, which are apparently not completely integrated, and this took a minute or so to process. You then need to give it a payment method. When arriving at the pump you select the pump number, and it will tell you to start filling.

I had assumed that when the nozzle was placed back in its holder the app would spring to life and automatically sort out payment, but apparently the transaction needs to be finalised by the staff member inside. (I guess BP is holding out hope that you feel like an $6 Mars bar or Powerade ... or would you like 2 for $7?)

Two other footnotes - my inner churner appreciates being able to link a PayPal account instead of manually entering CC details, and emailed receipts when paying via BPme is good for tax time.

And just in time at the low end of the price cycle in BNE?

I've just checked the PetrolSpy app and 98 is 136.9 at the BP which is the same as the Woolies station I normally use, which is surprising.

Obviously, Woolies is discounted by 4c/l and then a further 5% by using WISH cards but I'll just do a splash and dash at the BP to score the QFF points.
