Qantas partnership with BP

I got this offer too.

Overall, what do AFFers think of the BP Rewards offers so far? When they announced the new partnership with Qantas last year, BP promised "highly-valued, personalised loyalty offers". Have they lived up to the hype?
From my experience so far, they've done what they said they would do. The initial batch of points and 10 SCs popped up in my account quickly, as have points from purchases since then. There is an additional points promotion at the moment which I will take advantage of, although as I filled up last week there's only so much I can out into the tank.
With the arrangement under Velocity, I could get $10 off my purchases for fuel - which averaged $70+ - which I felt was of more value.

Their marketing claims come from when the world was a bit of a different place.
Given they started rolling out the program just as the pandemonium struck, I think they have done ok.

Am envious of those of you who have/(were able to keep your) ABNs.
Makes me wish I had a way to have kept my ABN alive, ABR took me off ABN as they said I was not a business, which is true, as my employer changed everyone to subbie, they then got told off, so back to being an employee, and so ABN got taken off.
Still no news for non ABN holders, when QFF can be earnt by non business people, which is a downer.
No Coles Express near where I live, but 2 OTR outlets, which do have BP logos and all on their signs.

You can't earn points at OTR

Ooh, not even with this new fangled BP Rewards?
Ahh, I see.
Edit: just had a deeper look at the BP website, (never made the effort in the past to do so), it does list some outlets that are OTR in SA, that has BP Rewards.

Not many offers but at least the points are posting faster now
Good to triple dip with qbr offer and amex payment

I will second that motion and have tried a couple of times. The BP switch to QF has not worked out that well for us living in the DPRSA.

I actually went onto the website last night to check how many BP service stations where you can earn points that are in Adelaide - it was very sparse and certainly not worth me travelling to get petrol. I will continue to use the cheapest around me.

Even when close by to BP, there are very rarely competitive.

Thanks Matt_01 for finding out in person!
(O/T) DPRSA, you mean the Democratic Peoples Republic of (I don't dare say out loud)… heh heh… indeed, considering we have put in border closures, even with the ADF in toe with SAPOL at the borders between SA and Vic... probably will get stricter with NSW too.

Yes you are correct “DPR” and we will not mention SA. As I have residences in SA and VIC I am starting to wonder when I can return to VIC just to collect suits, shirts and ties, and then come home and not be put into SA quarantine.

I filled-up at a local BP a few days ago and also bought a shop item. When I presented my QFF card the BP reader was not able to scan it for some reason. I asked them to manually enter the number, but was told there was no way to do that!

I have since sent a "contact us" message to BP via their rewards website, asking for the points to be credited to my QFF account and quoting the BP receipt number, but has not had any sort of response from them!

VERY disappointing.....

Should you use the digital BP Rewards card instead?

Both the BP Rewards and Qantas website say that you must (a) link your QFF number to your BP Rewards account, then (b) scan your QFF card card at BP to earn the points.

I'm not sure what happens if you just scan your BP Rewards card as I haven't tried, but it has always worked for me using just my QFF card.

I've scanned, at various times, my QFF card, a physical BP Rewards card, and the virtual card in BPMe, and have always ended up with the Qantas Points.

Saw the AFF piece on the value of the BP/QANTAS alliance v BP/Velocity.

For Ultimate Diesel customers, we are 50% worse off cause we used to receive 2 points for litre under BP/Velocity whereas we now only receive 1 point.

I wrote to the them twice about matching the previous BP/Velocity offer of 2 points and never received a reply.

We now give BP less business, preferring the cheapest Diesel rate near our home.

It is hopelessly uncompetitive as a Rewards programme

Compare to Caltex (in NSW anyway)
1QF Point/$ plus WW 4c off/l plus 5% Wish discount plus 4c/l off if you buy items instore

I dont see BP consistently cheaper to offset the difference

There are so many good fuel discounts out there - especially if you live in NSW where there is realtime pricing information available on the government app.

Coles - you can save 4c/l off with a Coles receipt and stack it with an additional 4c/l off with the carsales carcode - and then shave another 0.5% off by earning flybuys.

Ampol (old caltex star marts)- you can stack NRMA member 3c/l off with earning Woolworths points (which shaves another 0.5% off).

7-11 - if only their new app wasn't such a flop - the fuel lock was sensational (but I can't get their new app to work).

Woolworths-Caltex cobranded - as per poster above.

The BP program is fine if you are filling up at BP because it just happens to be the cheapest or the most convenient - but if you are going out of your way to fill up at BP you'd be better off going out of your way to get the readily available cash savings elsewhere.

I thought I read that not all BP stores have joined up to the QFF program. I know of 3 around where I live, 2 clearly advertise it as a new feature whilst another (looks to be an old school owner who runs a repair shop as part of the service station) has nothing and suspect they're not getting into it. (Still have the pricing in metal numbers manually changed over the newer electronic pricing).
