Qantas partnership with BP

Paying via the BP app gets around this too right (though I've noticed the BP app is notoriously unreliable and comfortably the worst fuel app out there)

Not all stations support paying with app (I suspect some pumps don't have tech to allow offsite unlocking) but it's really not that hard to just read the EFTPOS machine and press cancel. Especially if you know to expect it.

If you read on this forum though, seems a lot of people do make it to the "use points" stage, and then "succeed" in using points to pay for the fuel, even if they didn't mean to!

I am guessing BP's FY24 marketing budget landed today. I've had a call from QF business rewards about BP Plus, a QF branded 3 x BP spend accelerator for the wife's QFF account and both 4x and 10x offers for both of our BP rewards accounts but don't seem to be able to activate the 10x one so maybe that was in error

I received the same offer via email today @33kft with it not activating also.
I thought it may have something to do with a current offer (x2 points first spend fuel or shop, x4 second spend) valid till 22 August - the same date as today's offer.

I got the same 10x offer and it didn’t work. I’ve logged a support request asking for it to be honoured.

I received an email saying my 10x was in error (I have a current 4x running) but they will honour the highest

Same here, do we thank @justinbrett for logging support request?!

I didn’t have any offers activated and it still said the 10x was invalid. I think the whole email was a mistake.

Got the replacement offer this morning - notice this one is just a single offer for 10x; the previous one I had was 5x on the first visit and 10x on the second.

i prefer this one, I drive a hybrid and only fill up once a month.

Thanks @justinbrett
The BP IT work experience kids have had a field day.
I know I didn't get my 33 points last week but this was a nice bonus to see this morning!

Normally not enough points to be bothered pulling the card out to get the reward let alone pulling into the servo itself.

Had the accelerator email and, yes, the activation didnt work as it told me i wasn't eligible. I did, however, successfully activate a 3 x $50 spend (fuel or shop) for 3,000 points.

I’m looking at the two emails and the promise I now have is only to part honour the highest offer. My email from last night promised 5x rewards on first shop and 10x rewards on second shop. The email this morning only promises the 10x offer. Could of course be better, including for me, as two refuels in a week might be a tall order for some.

Not expecting any cheap fuel by tuesday though! Swings and roundabouts.

Cheers skip

As a follow up here it seems they've just voided both of the offers sent yesterday (email just in) and handed out a "10 x points on your next fill up" as an apology.

Got the 10x email yesterday, went to activate, denied. Logged in and got the 2x and 4x offer, filled up last night then checked emails this morning with the apology and 10x offer validated...
Hurts even more when you put a full tank of 98 in at $2.44 and miss out (and the other car you have with a 150L tank is also full).

If you filled up after the offer was received yesterday I would put a claim in for the points.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but it didn't seem like my query warranted a new thread.

A couple of days ago I fuelled my car at BP. I scanned my physical QFF card. Today I received an email from QFF saying that I'd scanned an invalid card. They said I should have scanned my digital card. I'm not quibbling about the few points. I'm annoyed about being accused of trying to use an invalid card. I'm currently QFF Gold. The card is valid until August 2024, and I've flown enough to retain Gold next year. The Qantas website, as recently as two minutes ago, says to scan your QFF card. It doesn't say that only a digital card is acceptable. And if my card was actually invalid, it begs the question: how did they know it was me? :-)

What exactly did the email you got say? Plenty of us scan physical cards at BP so I suspect it isn't that specifically.

This is cut and pasted from the email:

You've recently scanned an invalid physical Qantas Frequent Flyer card at bp and therefore will not earn Qantas Points. Due to a system error, your physical Qantas Frequent Flyer card is not registering information when it is scanned.

To earn Qantas Points on future purchases at bp, you must scan your digital Frequent Flyer card. You can find this in the Qantas App or by adding your card to your phone's digital wallet.
