Qantas partnership with BP

This whole thing is reminiscent of the DCC scam where it is so easy to make the wrong (read expensive) selection.

Ok, did the BP shop.
This was an AMPM (SA-Adelaide) outlet, with bp rewards logo.
Chose my food items (no fuel, as I don't drive), as soon as you tell them you want to use the app, and explain that you do NOT want to use point they will ask you to scan your barcode on QFF card/bp app/bar code "2081 811x xx_x xx_x xx_ xx_ x" with QFF digit in the line, they "should" then tell you to press cancel, which is the bottom left button, to decline the "use" points, and the use xx_x points pop up on the terminal will disappear off screen.
If you don't have the use points PIN, also this would mean you can't pay with points, just say you don't have it.
Even if you use stocard barcode, the bp reader at the counter will know you have QFF points available, and how many points (smart eh), and prompt if you want to use them, even if you have 1800 QFF points, it will prompt you.
If you press cancel, on the button below the digit 7, the pop up disappears.
This does not cancel your purchase, just use points.
You can then tap the screen to pay, or enter card into slot down bottom and enter PIN.
Then the items are yours.
If you don't want to interact too much with the person behind the counter, just say you don't have the PIN to use points, but I didn't go that far in the use points stage today.
If you don't want to, you could download the stocard app, which is as good as the real QFF app, but the stocard app does not have the use points PIN on it, which is a good thing, if you want to save your points.

WA now has a couple of new discount fuel chains.
These new entrants are on offer with 12 cents a liter less expensive for diesel than BP. Perhaps this means it would have to be a very special offer to be considered? RON 98 - maybe once in a while since the difference there is 4 to 6 cents a liter
Or should I just limit my wandering?

If lucky they might tie with VFF.

Unlikely unfortunately. Their deal with 7-11 means they have no fuel offer in SA, and they don't seem to be in any rush to strike a deal with a SA based supplier.

On a side note, it's just about impossible to get either fuel offer in SA these days. OTR don't participate in BP Rewards, and it looks like AMPM are transitioning to Ampol. I think that leaves 2 BP outlets (the roadhouse at Wingfield and one random BP in Rostrevor) that participate in the program outside of the handful of AMPM's still with BP.

Thanks for the info that the (real) BP will become Ampol in the end, therefore tying in with EDR.
Didn't know that, thought it was all good to earn QFF at the full 1:1 rate.
Heh, guess all dreams comes to an end.
Re: the Rostrevor one (BP outlet), yes, I know that one, have been there, I think its owned by the Parente family.

Get 250 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $25 or more on any fuel

Mine was 500 / $10

... still never used it as it has never been worth it ...

... still not worth it...

AM/PM are BP (turning Ampol franchisees), so I suspect EDR may not apply at those Ampol sites. EDR iirc only apply to Ampol Foodary (Ampol company owned) and EG owned sites.

As soon as you present your BP app/card or bar code or QFF card to the rewards reader at BP and you dont want to use points, press cancel once on their EFTPOS reader then tap to pay, or insert at bottom and PIN to pay.
Have to press cancel at first step, once, to cancel the "burn points" procedure.
Re BP being taken over, pity that.
Harder to keep track of who is eho under new system.

Remember to press "cancel" on the eftpos machine, after you scan your QFF card, or BP me app barcode, or they will ask you if you want to use points.
Due to covid, they do not touch your card, they have a bar code scanner next to the chocolates, at the front counter, I think I saw the words "BP Rewards" on the top of the reader on my last visit to a SA (Adelaide's few only) BP outlets.
Tell them no, if the person behind the BP counter has scruples, they would suggest to press cancel on the eftpos, this does not cancel the purchase, just cancel the on screen offer to "use Qantas X number of points"...
===
Failsafe way though, is just to NOT use your PIN that appears on your QFF card on the QFF app.
The PIN does not appear anywhere else.
This is not your credit card/debit card/eftpos PIN.
===
"Rewards Code (enter to use points) xx_x" mine reads.
It appears on your QFF app, within the small box with the flying roo, if you or anyone is curious to see what yours is.
Next to the gear icon, on the right hand side, just below the battery charging sign on your mobile phone.
