Thanks Sam, In the space of about 5 minutes my flatmate joined up just north of the Mason Dixon line and emigrated from the good ol' US of A to down under. God Bless America! (And Qantas)

Oh and OT, about time they axed the fee when you can just sign up with a foreign address and then change back to your actual address before they send the card.

No card will be sent if you sign up with an oversea address.

Do you need a physical card? It's just an account with a number attached to it isn't it?

I didn't realise this, I guess that's why my sisters card didn't arrive in HK. However they must send a card eventually, when you make a flight, or if you qualify for a higher level?

When my sister checked in recently we just wrote down the number (at home) and asked them to use that number (at the airport), was no issue at all.

If you really wanted a card, a new one costs $25 or 2500 points, which last I checked is cheaper than the initial sign-up fee within Australia anyway. So while I was incorrect on card issuing, it's still a cheaper method if you really have to have an NB card.

Any idea about the time line for when the fee will be axed?

Not really but I'm thinking it'll be around the same time those everydayrewards cards start earning QFF points and Qantas start raking in the kickbacks from woolies..
