Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Another coughpy involuntary seat move, this time a cancelled flight at T-12. 4A to 24C, then after getting and earlier flight 13C.

Just a simple technical question: do SC earnt on Jetstar count towards the 2700 required for P1? (IE, I know they count towards the 3600, but do they count as QF?)

I am assuming they don't?

"Qantas marketed", so Jetstar with a QF code would count.

Note that 2,700 of the required 3,600 Status Credits need to be earned on Qantas marketed flights.

Actually an involuntary flight/aircraft move. At T-12, it may be that most seats on what was to become your new flight were already allocated.

In case of irrops, you really should just be thankful that they were able to get you on another aircraft, hopefully without too much of a time difference from your original flight.

In such circumstances, being P1 should not mean that everyone else gets thrown to the wind for you - it should mean they treat you as well as they can, in the circumstances.

Agree totally with John here.

Imagine you're the "other guy" and you got moved from your preferred seat because another flight got cancelled and a CL(or whoever) got popped in your seat to suit them? you wouldn't be very impressed at all. It's a situation where you just can't win except that getting to where you need to be without too much incident is the win itself.

IMHO.

Totally anecdotal here but I've flown about 10 sectors since Jan 1, and on mainline flights CSM's seem to have been making extra efforts to acknowledge me as a P1 - just yesterday MEL-CBR for example I was the only one in J the CSM came to and gave a special greeting to. On another sector (SYD-MEL maybe, i forget) CSM came through cabin to a few elites and gave the greeting and another one OOL-MEL I chatted to the CSM to compliment her crew(see below) and she made mention of being well aware what P1 involved in terms of flying effort and also that she'd "worked with the P1 team" from time to time to resolve issues post flight (interesting, but I did not press further on that)

Anyway I had promised her I would write to P1 to compliment the crew and have a mention forwarded internally for the great service - and I did just that and got a lovely reply thanking me for the positive feedback, that it would go to Crewing and so on.

They cancelled the flight for nothing other than revenue reasons. The flight we ended up on was 3/4 Empty and they had us scattered all over for trim/balance.

I don't have a problem with ending up in a different seat (as you suggest happy to get a seat on a plane that was going, as opposed to one which wasn't), but irrespective of the reason, a pattern of not getting the seat you asked for is a pattern none the less.

It's ok we can dream 11sjw+. I saw you in this thread with me!

Ha ha. Yes it is nothing but a dream in my short term future. Work related flying has dried up. My current SG-ness is due to the soft landing. Lifetime PS to fall back to after my next anniversary. :(

John K is right. So long as flight number has QFxx_x irrespective of the logo on the plane's tail it will count toward the 2700SC.

Specifically JQ flight numbers will count only to the 3600 and not toward the 2700 so long as the fares are higher than economy starter fares.

If someone else was paying for the 3000 SCs then I'd take the.... I'd better not....

Still got to have one's bum in the seat - even if it's all F it's still a fair amount of time.

All I'm saying is that sometimes time at home without being away can be valuable too :)

(and nobody but me pays for my SC's - sadly! :) )

I find if I am not flying I don't feel well. Staying in Brisbane this weekend but I am still going out to airport today, tomorrow and Sunday to feel at home.

Now staying at home is OK but I would rather do 3000 SCS in economy if someone else was paying. Flying is a hobby.

But all that could change soon and might find myself grounded more often.

Aside this weekend in BNE looks a bit hairy. stay safe.

I get it. I love flying too - it's a hobby.100% of my flying is leisure, and almost all of it is to my timetable for things I want to do or experience. So I totally get what you're saying.

I also have no family (bar a 4 legged member) keeping me grounded, but there are times when I quite like the idea of say 3-4 weeks without going someplace.. but given all of the travel I do is my own choice, I've got nobody to blame other than me :) so it's all good.

Don't mind me, I've just been doing a bit the past few weeks (~400SC's domestic in past 2 weeks) so a tad weary :)

Anyway each to their own :D

(we now return you to regular P1 experience related discussions :D) )

G'day Richard, commendable actions in a suitable situation.

Your feedback to P1 has a definite value to it.

For 1...The CSM will take true value from your conversation and compliments.
Fore 2 ....P1 Qantas always like to know the machine is working.
4 3...P1 definitely pass the compliments onto the associated staff/ staff member.
Phor 4... This recognition is valued by the staff member themselves, but also seen in VERY Good light by Qantas when they view the staff members performance.

So, to sum up...Your Opinion is truly valued,...and Really does get through to those who deserve the commendation.... (or the other direction of opinion in less happy circumstances.)

Opinion and Recognition go a long way.

Who knows, might mean that a shadow might be sitting next to you in J when you least expect it ;-}

Anyways, that's what I've discovered the way it goes seems to be.

Thanks quickstatus.

Bummer. Am doing BNE-HNL on a Business Max fare on Monday, but looking at the booking it shows JQ5 as the flight.

I think I will hit P1 this year, just wanting to get there asap. :)

Thanks Donovan301 :) I appreciate it.

I certainly didn't provide the feedback both to the crew and to P1 for anything for me. I do it because I note far too often it's easy for people to complain about stuff and whine and while it's just as easy to note a great job, very few seem to do it.. so I wanted to be one of those ones to say "Hey I noticed you guys went above and beyond in a number of ways and I want to let you know and to let the company know"

I work in a support role (technoliogy) in an organisation and it's the sort of thankless role that when something goes bad everyone's on your back to fix it and to demand why things broke and all the rest.. when things go smoothly it's a case of "not seen and not heard" and very little recognition is made. I'm not saying I am a super guy who does an awesome job or that I deserve constant praise (I'm not an ego maniac I hope :) ) but it's nice those rare times to hear the odd "hey things have been great lately and I noticed you worked hard on that project so it went smoothly - thanks for the extra effort" makes it worth while (and as you say, if the boss hears... brownie points!). So yeah I want to be positive.

tbh it's rare I do this sort of thing, and first time I've sent feedback to P1 in 3 years of having it, so this reflects that that particular CSM and crew really bowled me over enough that this was something I wanted to do... and it wasn't hard to spend 10 minutes writing an email noting the details and so on or a few minutes in flight just personally telling them so good karma.

but hey if I don't get a shadow but a lovely lady who gets the status thing.. that works too! :D

Some good P1 experiences for me in January. Several domestic Y and J flights, and some Trans-Tasman J flights. Courtesy blocks issued for most of my flights. They almost all held too (including the J Trans-Tasmans). Was also able to move to an earlier flight on return from Christchurch (scored a refurbed A330 to MEL) with no fuss (selecting this flight at the time of booking would have added $200!!). Not necessarily a P1 benefit I know.

No special greetings on any of the Y flights but no problem.

And -- finally* -- got a P1 team upgrade with "Enjoy your flight" message on the BP. Sadly was only MEL-CBR and with the most ordinary "dinner" I've ever had in J - but the upgrade and gesture from the team was nevertheless greatly appreciated. To be fair, my longer haul flights of late have not been with QF* so upgrade options have been limited.

* I'm sure it's pure coincidence.

Good to read some positive experiences Kermatu. I wonder how the FlyAhead benefit works for Int flights. This is the P1 perk I use the most and it saves me heaps but only used it on Dom flights so far.
