Qantas Platinum One experiences?

This is not on tickets, but well done to those who have rec'd, enjoy.

This is a first for me, recently Per-Drw and my bag was first out, thought that was nice, haven't been to DRW lately maybe a change in baggage handlers being able to see the white disc. Anyway it was nice, got keys and gone in a short time.

Then on the return flight at Per, the same thing, my bag was first out, this doesn't happen!!!. Also I had finished work early and checked in about 2hrs before the flight.

Am off to PVG next week, I'll bet this doesn't happen in China.

Buy a lotto ticket!!!

Forget about a lotto ticket, as they say when you are on a winning streak ----" Quit while you are ahead"!!

Thant way you will not get disappointed by the inevitable service inconsistency. Hope you know that the resultant manic depressive condition is considered psychiatric

Like you "Quit while I'm ahead", certainly was amazing!!!.

Also just clocked over 1 million miles on flight tracker 614 sectors since 2010.

First few flights on QF this week after about a 6 week hiatus - when I travelled VA a fair bit and SQ (more competitive pricing!). Good service as usual on QF but also had some extra on board recognition which makes me think the special P1 treatment and offers are not necessarily dead (as I had assumed and was discussed up thread).

Surprised as it happened on short sectors MEL-CBR and yesterday CBR-MEL. On both flights after the CSM had served everyone in J (I was in row 4 no curtain so could see) they came back and offered me (and a couple of others) anything extra. I declined on the 2nd flight as I knew we'd be descending soon but on the first there was still a fair bit of time so I asked for a glass of wine. Then while descending he came and gave me the remainder of the bottle to take home. Nice touch!

Aside from enjoying the wine, I was pleased to see that all J pax were looked after first, then a proactive CSM checked ipad and made a point of looking after status pax. Hope it is sustained.

Nice little upgrade from MEL to PER today, with a lovely note from the P1 team on the BP.

Always a very nice and welcome surprise. Thanks P1 team.

Kinda sorta not really a P1 experience but this is the most appropriate thread to post it in.
I was onboard QF10 yesterday and early on in the cruise the Captain came around the F cabin and chatted to the pax. I mentioned that on this trip back to Australia I'd be getting P1 for the first time ever. We had a nice chat and he moved on. Later in the flight the CSM came up and said that the Captain had offered for me to go into the coughpit in DXB for a tour and photos.
Really lovely experience and made me feel like an excited school kid again instead of the weary world traveller I've become.
It's these unexpected and very special gestures that keep me flying QF :)

Very decent way to be looked after!

I have no great desire to tour the coughpit but I do think this approach by QF carries great value and little cost. It would certainly make me feel valued by QF.

The picture is pricelessly gorgeous :D

Remember the Captain's name?

and congrats on crossing the line!!!! I had no idea THIS was the trip :D

Some good and yet also sadly lacking P1 experiences this week. Several domestic flights. Shadows placed on some and some held.

Got my first sense of proactive flight monitoring when a Y-only 717 SYD-CBR service was significantly delayed. Received a call / message from the P1 team to inform me and to invite me to consider alternatives. Unfortunately by the time I got out of the meetings and made the call back options were limited so in the end I remained on my delayed flight. That was my decision - I appreciated the contact and attempt to help

Was soured a bit though by an equipment change and then being allocated a seat at the back. Fortunately I checked EF and noticed and was able to grab a better seat near the front and with a vacant adjacent seat. (Very helpful desk staff in the J lounge).

As an aside but also an interesting point on how CLs are better treated whether they warrant it or not. I saw on EF one person was sitting in J. I expected it to be a staff member but turned out not. I happened to know this person quite well and we had a good chat after the flight - I was intrigued as to how they were in J on a Y-only service. Was upgraded as a CL Bronze FF (showed me their BP). CL status obtained a few months prior by virtue of this person's partner getting a particular job. Admitted they rarely fly QF (handful of domestic flights and no international with QF a year). Does make me wonder if there's any scrutiny of who becomes a CL and assessment of their actual value.

That's awesome, just awesome!

Newbie here, but have been lurking for a few months now.

I've been a P1 for 6 months now, after being a WP for 7 years or so.

I've only made it to 1000SC in 6 months, and to be honest, I wont be bothering to even try to hang on to WP, never mind P1.

Why?

I've taken a few trips in J overseas as a P1, and a couple of trips overseas in Y, and a bunch of domestic red e-deals.
The only benefits I've seen are:-
The ability to pick row 4 on a 737 when I book, but, this has been countered by a lack of P1 shadow more tha 50% of the time.
Release of award seats, but it was only MEL-CBR, and even then the best they could do was 6 hrs away from what I wanted.
A bottle of wine, great I'm tea-total, (check my profile QF).

I not quite sure what I was expecting, but there have been no upgrades, no acknowledgement on any flights, apart from 'oh you probably travel more than us' from the CSM.....

So, for me, it's time to spread the love.

See you QF....

Welcome to AFF Cookie Monster; first post and your feedback is similar to others in that The P1 and WP ( WP becoming the new Gold as the differences are slight) are not all that they are made out to be.
But some die hards have found solace and have been lucky with upgrades, invitations, and special treatments. Still a lot of flying for benefits which at best questionable. Did you get your 50000 points ? And did you nominate someone for a WP card in addition to yours?
Cheers

Your experience sounds typical of P1 reviews on AFF - but I'm curious; you weren't sure what you were expecting but clearly this didn't live up to expectations.

To help QFF - In what order would you most like to receive these on a leisure trip?

Upgrade
QF rep escort family through airport on both ends
Elevated levels of recognition onboard
Physical gift that you could use at your destination
Free airport transfers (if not applicable to your ticket already)
Guaranteed shadow (free)
Discounted shadow (if so - under what conditions?)
Something else?
