Qantas Platinum One experiences?

cmon0005, I have no idea if they can work out that sort of thing but in this case they had no chance - I strode onto that plane with possibly the biggest grin they have ever seen. As soon as I sat down and the flight attendant asked me what I would like to drink, I couldn't help myself and I explained that as I was hitting P1 on this flight it would just have to be champagne :)

To be honest, I didn't expect much of a reaction - I know that staff have so much to do, that things like this might not be on the top of their minds. But the reaction of the lady almost brought tears to my eyes, she clearly didn't just only understand what it meant to me, but she also showed true emotion in sharing my happiness, and thanked me for being such a loyal customer to Qantas. Her happiness for me was truly, truly wonderful. And she looked after me like a king. I have always been a huge supporter of Qantas, and the main reason for that is that I love their staff. This lady sealed that forever.

Well done. Congratulations.. Hope Qantas keeps delivering..

nice story on your P1 attainment Juddles!

Have to say I have had and didn't have any reaction, comment or otherwise from crews on getting or retaining P1. Guess I'm just not interesting enough lol

only once have I had a comment from a CSM about appreciating how much went into making P1 and that she appreciated the effort.... it was in context of me giving her a real compliment and letting her know that I intended to note with the P1 SST to pass on internally how impressed I was with the whole crew on a particular flight (and as such I asked if it would be OK to get her name to pass on, and she was delighted and wrote down the whole crews names!). I certainly didn't intend my P1 SST comment to come across as "I'm a uber important P1 so-and-so" but to explain my request.. and she understood and was genuinely happy that I would take the time to make a personal comment and to follow up (which I did do, and I sure hope she got feedback internally!).

Other than that, there hasn't been a lot of acknowledgement other than on F flights CSM's doing the "Welcome back since you fly so much.." type thing

not that it really worries me mind you, but it's great that they went to so much effort, with the bonus of jb747 too makes that milestone even more special! :D

Just a small additional detail I liked - got the welcome emails from the P1 team and from epiQure premium - didn't realise I would get a bottle of champagne delivered :)

My wife is not a FF type, but with partner Platinum membership and a bottle of good bubbly, for a brief millisecond in my hobby I am ok with my better half :)

Mind you she has threatened to partake of said bottle before I get back home :/

Very nice, juddles! I reckon she could have a good claim: the courts are very sensitive to the argument "possession is 9/10ths of the law" ;)

Nice one! Taittinger CDC? Or VC LGD? Or other?

One thing I will say of late, points upgrades as a P1 really hit at a great rate. This year I'm at 100% including a bunch of J to F. Nearly always the full 7 days out.

One of the best text messages you can get!

Probably one of the better perks, allows you to pick the best seats.

And yet I've had 100% success over the years as a NB right through to P1....

But yes - being at the top of the pecking order is a big benefit.

Juddles,

I wonder if the champ was the "free" one you could get when joining epiqire? The Taittinger Brut IIRC or a nicer P1 bubbles (maybe the 2000 Krug we got last Christmas?) - either way very nice...

:)

Got a nice P1 invite this morning to a special Ballet event here in Melbourne. Something a bit different... but I'll be in SFO! if they only bothered to look at my bookings they'd know this! LOL

That'd be a great! I wonder if I still have my Mr RichardMEL mask in cold storage?

Of course, with one hand they give and the other they take away: how could they not look at your bookings before sending out an invite? Or are they hoping to earn some good sentiment by mere virtue of the invitation?

All I am certain of is that it is Taittinger - I will elaborate when it arrives - if my wife has not made away with it before I get there :)

Given P1s travel a lot it's inevitable that events will be on when they are actually interstate or overseas. The fact that so many invitations seem to be issued when P1s are away (and travelling Qantas) is further evidence the program is poorly constructed and managed.

I've had 3 free gifts of alcohol from Epiqure (2 bottles of wine on first joining / attaining P1; one bottle of Taittinger champagne when I re-attained P1; and one random bottle which I can only guess was renewal/rollover of Epiqure membership despite dropping from P1). A nice touch and much appreciated. Plus one Christmas gift but that was a clear gift for being P1 with a letter from Lesley etc.

Is he dark and mysterious?

Imagining a Sean Connery look-a-like. ;) (in a non-threatening way)

Guns are not allowed apparently ..... All the Sean C photos are with a Walter PPK

After a forced, but welcome, halt in my flying (redundancy) I'm back in the saddle again with probably even more travel than ever coming up. It was wonderful to be welcomed back with a complementary upgrade 'courtesy of the Platinum One Team.' Nice touch guys....

Just got back from return trip Per/Drw and the most amazing thing happened. After waiting for a long time in Drw for baggaage to come out (even had a change of carosual ) my bag came out first. As the only P1 on board thought thats nice, it can only happen in Drw. Not expecting too much returned to Per the following day. Finished work early and had some 3hrs in the lounge after check in. Not expecting anything special regarding baggage, checked in early, last bag out, oh well. What a surprise first bag out again!!!. Never thought this could happen, first out in Drw and first out in Per. It did happen once before in March this year, but thought that was a fluke. It must have been the P1 bag tag, nevermind what or how it did happen, and i was on my way smartish.

Half your luck. My redundancy saw me trickle back to my Lifetime PS from WP. :(

I don't believe you - are you a plant from QANTAS?

:p:p:p

In my experience QANTAS are worried that Platinum One members are lonely so send their bags out LAST, so they have heaps of time to make new friends at the baggage carousel...
