Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Presumption. The SST didn't even know the Briefing existed for at least two editions so I would not bother asking them.

Unfortunately this is standard in QF (and other airlines) where staff are completely unaware of what other parts of the company are doing. And in my experience staff in general have very little knowledge of frequent flyer stuff such as status groups. That fail is hard to forgive with the SST though - it is not exactly a complex program, and there are not that many members, and the SST exists to cater to this small bunch........

I can't see too much of a pattern? They certainly don't seem to have enabled the auto-send!

Perhaps they are struggling to get any useful articles, information and or offers together so decided to leave it lol and let it slip it away quietly :)

It's funny.. when they arrived we'd almost always bag the cough out of them and point out how useless they were, bar the 20% off fare deal or one or two other items but in general it's useless. Now it seems some of us miss them :)

I'd rathe they just sent out an email with whatever offer(s) in it, forget the guff about stories from other P1 members, or SST members or whatever.. nothing stopping them doing that.

I’m doing a bit at the moment, mixed with some VA flights. P1 experience limited to arranging spa appointments in the F lounge. Occasionally I’ve had to HUACA (actually email) but eventually been successful, including some nice flexibility from the lounge hosts to accommodate my schedules and delays. I value the short spa appointments so this is a good benefit for me.

Very hit and miss greetings onboard. All recent flights on J so no chance of upgrade or special treatment. Not that VA is proving to be that much better — although service (on the A330) priority boarding and baggage easily beat QF. Both are disappointing me on my trans-Tasman flights.
Are you able to book spa appointments as a P1 before you arrive?
I've only been able to do that when occasionally in F..
Be great as I never seem to be able to get one, even as P1 when I'm at the SYD F lounge 3+ hours prior....

It's not a listed benefit. And unequivocally F passengers get priority. I don't always ask, especially when my flights are just trans-Tasman and a spa session really is better for a long-haul pax. But have done so when:
- I will only be in the lounge for a short time so have a very specific time window (eg, 10am or 10:30am) - so I think no harm in asking; or
- when I know there are no F flights for the next 4 hours from my entry to the lounge, so there'll be no F bookings and I can get the certainty of a session and plan my leisurely lounge arrival and meal accordingly.

Think I'm 100% successful in MEL thanks to the terrific attitude of the F host staff there (eg re-arranging times when my inbound aircraft have been late) - although the SST have not always been that receptive to my requests! Haven't asked much out of SYD. Think it has also been 100% but would only be a couple of times at most so not a good sample size.

F Hosts and spa staff know me - and know that the simple treatment I have is of great benefit to me - so that might help.

I have posted it here because that's the nature of this site and we should all get the benefit of others' experiences. But it's not something I want (or would like others) to abuse - as it would probably be shut down completely.

Who do you ring for that. The SST?

Also can back up your statement about the MEL F lounge. The staff are lovely, and most still remember the time where I was a WP under 18 and couldn’t enter the lounge, where instead they gave me a first clsss lounge bag with some fruit, packaged chips, and soft drink.

Maybe not just a once off, the chap on the other side of the aisle also received the same. No personal note or flight details however this was domestic flight, still a nice touch.

Agreed - a nice touch from QF. I picked up another one last week on the LAX-JFK leg of QF11 on the 789. This time it was signed off by the CSM and some of the cabin crew..

Just an email to the SST. Not always a positive response. Needs to be timed right - I once emailed from Dubai before flying through to AKL via MEL, it was in business hours in CBR / MEL, but too early for a booking. Unwanted hassle for everyone, but eventually got it sorted and the F lounge staff were great in re-jigging times to accommodate my inbound EK flight disembarking at the stand (with 45 minute delay) rather than the gate.
