Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Did you soft land from P1 to WP? How many SC did you earn that year you dropped?
I was WP and soft-landed to Gold. Only earned 500SC. Was only WP1 one year but made enough for WP anyway that year so dunno what would of happened if I hadn't.

Dropped back to Gold from WP/WP1 for the first time in years...and amazed at the difference. Called up to book a QF reward ticket that errored out online (because of the extra availability for Golds and above and then booking for someone who is a Bronze bug, which has been around for ages and never fixed). Tried multiple times at different times of the day over several days and gave up after waiting 40+mins each time. Eventually about after 5th time, got through in 30mins and the agent had no clue what to do and just kept saying the seat doesn't exist. Gave up and asked my sister to book the flight for me (who is still WP) and she did it all in less than 10mins, with zero wait time on the phone.
I can't imagine what would happen if you had silver or bronze status...
I can share what happens...I don’t call ;). We either try and find a friendly family member who has status, or find a friendly AFF’er or similar who knows how to work the system.

But those with no knowledge sit on the phone or give up trying to book the seat then complain to Today Tonight..

Was on QF26 HND - SYD on Friday evening 14th June. On departure the CSM announced there were more than 50 Platinum / OWE (or greater) passengers on the flight. I'm guessing this flight along with possibly a Sunday SYD/MEL - SIN/LHR, LAX would have the highest ratio of Platinum / OWE passengers.

That's interesting. Have flown the QF25/26 route three times since the start of 2018, first time was on a PE ticket with gold status landing an upgrade to J both ways so likely quite fortunate to have done so! Last two trips have just paid for J. Sat in the same couple of seats in the bubble each time, would presume that the majority of business trips for regular commuters would be in PE these days?

So a thought for discussion/comment or dismissal.

With the latest changes announced and thinking about the release of more award availability to the general QFF membership I wonder if there may be any effect on what may be made available to P1 (and WP) re requesting award seats? Sure I know it all comes down to inventory in the end, and maybe one or two extra F or J seats on a flight being given to the punters may not affect much, but it did get me thinking...

Id say not even close. The perth- pt hedland or perth-newman you would be at around 75%

Doubt it. They didn't mention how many more premium seats they were going to release and to whom.
Don't think they did this with the intention of appeasing NB members.
For all we know, they could have reduced capacity recently, then announced more seats to bring it back up to "normal" with the guise of proclaiming "more seats".
Just like when shops mark up prices, then have a "sale".

MrsMaxwell recently made P1!

She received a nice welcome email along with a social invite in SYD, while also snagging an upgrade from PE to J on her recent return SCL-SYD which was nice - all in the first week! We were both P1 in its first year and besides a single op up to J on a SYD-MEL flight received nothing all year along with zero communication so this is a good change.

Got another footy invite (last one was in like 2017) this time for Collingwood v Richmond (I'm a tiger) at the MCG. This one would be stressful for me to watch and with alcohol to boot! lol

But you did accept the invitation @RichardMEL....didn't you? Hell, watching them lose whilst being wined and dined at the MCG (in a box?) is still better than in your unit with your cat, surely

lol. true that.. yes I found a pies fan to hang out with too...

it's the going home after the game with toothless victorious ferals everywhere that is the concern lol

Not an experience but just noticed an email detailing that the golf thing is being closed down and we now get 4-5 months of complimentary access to some other gold program. Not that I actually care as I never used the golf thing, just seems that a benefit (if you used it) is going.

I received an invite to "Bangarra - 30 years of sixty five thousand" at the Opera House next week.

Qantas Platinum One would like to offer you and a guest A reserve tickets to the performance of Bangarra's 30 years of sixty five thousand, including a pre-show coughtail function.

As per usual with these invites, I won't be in Sydney, which would be clear on my flight bookings. :(

Well, after almost three months of not touching QF, I just received an email from the P1 team. I wont cut and paste the actual words, as I respect privacy, even in emails from a company. But essentially it said that they had noticed my absence and were wondering if everything was ok. Not a bad email - even though it did not feel personal, the content was not demanding or silly.

I am not one who happily ignores something, so pondering if/what to reply. My feelings about QF are very complicated at the moment :)
