Qantas Platinum One experiences?

no email yet about package. Sydney based here. Just scraped in as P1 so maybe not eligible for the gift - lol.

747800intercon, further to other posts:

I am absolutely certain that there is no such thing as an individual P1 not being "worthy" of the Christmas gift. I have just received mine and I hope I am the least worthy of them all - after getting disillusioned, I not only stopped flying QF in 2019 (I think I got a total of about 200 SC this year?) but I have also complained and voiced my dissatisfaction on this very public forum.

When did you gain P1? It may be that if this was in the last months, you may have not been included in their planning for the champas which probably takes place a few months out...

As said before, call them. Tell them that all your AFF P1 buddies are loving their fancy bubbly, so why haven't you got one!!

I am sure that on higher levels they do some sort of valued customer monitoring, but I think for simple things like the yearly champas they are much more basic (as they should be).

In recent years we here have pondered why some get different champas, why some have a mystical "L2" rather than an "L1" on their correspondence.

I am in the camp that beleives that it is simply their way of defining which letter (or card) they get. My best guess at the moment is L1 = normal P1 and L2 = P1since inception. It just means that the oldest gals and guys in the program have an extra sentence added to their letter/card, referring to that.

But at the end of the day do not worry about having "just scraped in". It is like flying in F on an awards ticket - you may feel you have not spent what others have, but the plane is teh same, the seat is the same, and to the actual crew, you are the same as every other person in F :)

L1, Piper 2002, prefer this to the Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2007 but that's just personal choice.

As per fellow AFF members' advice I gave the SST a call as I hadn't received email/text about this year's gift and they advised not all P1 members will be receiving the Champagne this year...I have been P1 since it started uninterrupted. Anniversary is 30NOV each year and I re-qualified on 29OCT with 3620 SCs.

I am gobsmacked by this response. I assume you have received something in the previous years. Not giving champagne to all I can understand especially if you are a non drinker or for some other reason, but to be just left off the list, I wonder how QF determine who misses out.

First year P1, and just got the email this afternoon from AusPost saying that a delivery is on the way from Hatcher Pty Ltd (Qantas). I'm intrigued by the fact that there is such variation in the timing of delivery - I would have assumed they would all be sent around the same time.

Welcome to to club. Fair comment however this is QF we are talking about and one can never assume anything. :) @RichardMEL claims the TM “Consistently Inconsistent” or something like that.

Anyone also a Virgin Platinum? Did you get anything?
Anyone a PPS Krisflyer? Did you get anything from them?
I am all three and did not get anything from Virgin or Singapore Airlines.
Only Alan Joyce and P1came through this year.

SQ sent me the usual ~$300 SGD in-flight shopping vouchers that I get each year. And Piper Rare Millesime 2002 is our standard champagne in the SIN F lounges ;)

VA Platinum is not even close to P1 in "value" or effort/spend to get to. You just can't equate the two.

PPS.. yeah, that is closer.. though prob somewhere between PPS and Solitaire imo

One really should try and compare oranges with oranges, not oranges with pears.

I've received the gift only five out of seven years, 2015-2016 being dry IIRC.

Edit: And, of course, within minutes of posting this I too received the Auspost email.

I thought I was way past ever getting surprised by airline matters, but the new found knowledge that each and every P1 does not get what I thought was the yearly gift has left me truly STUNNED!!

By God Qantas seems to have taken the "Consistently Inconsistent" thing to unbelievably , um, consistent levels!!

Forgive the French, but this is just leaving me with one solid and al-overwhelming thought in my mind: "WTF??!!"

Just remember " it's Consistently Inconsistent(tm)

Someone owes me a royalty :D

I could appreciate (kind of) the reasoning given the other year for why govt types got the travel wallet instead of the champagne... at least they got something..

it seems mind boggling that if they are going to do a gift that everyone should get it.

And yet, I also understand me writing that is at odds with my usual "It's not a published benefit" spiel and I get that.

However unlike something that can't be guaranteed for all such as comp upgrades, "shadows" upgrades being given, reward seats being opened on demand etc etc etc they CAN choose to give a gift to all members.. and moreso this is now an established thing for people to receive. this yearly gift.

And how insulting to be the person told well everyone else you know who has the same status got something and you get nothing?! wow.

the mind does boggle. I'd love to be writing "Surely this can't be right!" but....

With reference, last year (my first and only year of P1) I received the headphones rather than the champagne. I am not a government worker, instead a uni student who is over 18 (so can legally drink). I originally thought that maybe they saw my Dad and I were at the same postal address and thought to only send one bottle, but reading this they don't really put much effort in!

To be fair to QF though, I have had a lot more use out of the headphones than a bottle of champers, so it was a very appreciated gift

I reckon 747800intercon could have just been punished for helping us to book more MASAs more aggressively than would otherwise have been possible...

But there is also the gaucheness of ringing up to say “Hey, what’s my Christmas present?”
