Qantas Platinum One experiences?

@marki I am a little confused is your rollover the end of Feb and if you dropped back to platinum I am reading that you did not get the required SCs to retain P1. Am I miss reading.

As an aside I did check MrsM account who has the complementary WP status, her card also shows an expiry of Feb 22.

Yeah both recipients of my gifted SG and WP have now been extended. My P1 has been extended to Feb 22, so... theoretically WP until Mar 23 without setting foot on another QF aircraft for nearly three years. Not that I intend to do that, esp not with all those maligned travel credits of which I have a fair few. jb747 says there probably won't be a QF (or VA) after this to use them on, I hope he's wrong but he'd know far more about the aviation industry :(

Re: extending P1 status for 12 months. Not sure if this has been answered elsewhere. For those who had already gained P1 prior to the extension can they trigger the 5,000 SC (75,000 Point Bonus) and 7,000 SC (100,000 Bonus) thresholds during the term of the extension or does the annual SC count get reset at the original anniversary date?

The FAQ say that SC will reset at the end of current membership year.

When Qantas extends my status as part of this change, will my Status Credits reset to zero?
No. Your annual Status Credit total will only reset to zero at the end of your current Membership Year. The 12 month status extension will not change this.

Can my current Status Credits be carried forward to my next Membership Year?
No. Any Status Credits you have earned so far in this Membership Year will reset at your current Membership Year end date.

Will the status extension impact the Loyalty Bonus and other Bonus Rewards calculations?
No. There’s no change to the calculation and awarding of any Bonus Rewards that are earned. You will continue to receive Bonus Rewards during your membership year if the eligibility criteria is met.

Chris, Nice work getting the 6000+ status credits but as long as you are safe and healthy, that's all that matters in the current climate.

There is about 18 days after dropping back. It was already hard in the months before to earn the SC.( before end of Feb) The last two years my SC earn was over 4500. Qantas email quote” Yes, the four Qantas Group flight rule will be waived for members who’ve not earned the required Status Credits to retain status in their own right. Unquote.” I thought that status would keep to P1 acknowledging the hardships in travelling already. I had to “can “ flights to Europe, US and Noumea.
I have been in lock down since 8th March and not been home due to the C19 issue. Having succumbed to its very infectious nature the public health orders mandate you staying put. So I am in Karratha. Until officially by written letter I am let go! Sigh

I must say I am a bit confused... if you have no ~ then how on earth could you qualify for the 2700 QF/JQ SC's for P1?

From my reading of the above you're refering to dropping from P1 back to Plat in Feb - ie before the status extensions and all that so would be treated under the usual qualification rules?

apologies if I'm missing something really obvious? (I probably am :) )

i must be confused myself. Yes I did drop back. But it was already due to C19 issues. Several international flights cancelled due to uncertainty and cancelled events. My last international flights per normal were 8th of January after that it started falling apart with flight cancellations last minute changes. On a tight schedule it was impossible to to accomodate these changes. And keep up with SC required. That’s what I am saying. It would have been nice if qantas had extended not the downgrade but the the previous P1 level. First world problems I know cheers ;)

That’s a bummer. I’m at 6273 SC’s with 3 months to go.. But in the grand scheme of things not a big issue...
I was thinking along the same lines with 4006 and 4.5 months to run (since I stopped flying). With the current restrictions I suspect at rollover I will still be on 4006.

At least you wont need a wooly pully in Karratha! I supose you can't escape to Dampier, that's used to be a nicer place than where you are.

Hi Franky, accommodation is in short supply here. But I do agree with you Dampier is nicer. Although I often think about point Samson past Wickam. Again I am lucky to have What I have. Slightly off-topic but hey they are platinum one experiences.
PS I have written to the P1 desk, and They have Taken my Particular case With the evidence, I supplied. I am expecting an excellent positive reply soon judging by the response so far. I crossed my fingers.

Agree Pt Samson is great, are all the restored historical buildings holding up?

Ditto with over 5000 SC's in first 7 months before travel stopped due to covid-19. I can't see any travel before member year ends, particularly as would need to be international to get any more SC's.

FWIW I have been in contact with SST via email and phone more times over the past 3-4 weeks than the previous 5-6 years to deal with existing bookings, cancellations, vouchers, refunds etc. In one of the conversations I did ask about status extension past what has currently been announced and was informed that further extensions have not been ruled out.

I would hope not as the status I have ‘earned’ from Apr 20 to Mar 21 is from what I can tell pretty much going to go to waste

I (and many others) are probably in the same way. Especially those that earned it without the extension anyway
Well yes. I earned P1 for the first time during my membership year from Apr 19 - Mar 20 so missed out on the extension. Hoping that logic prevails and they extend ... provided there is a QF to extend

L1925, in any game there are super achievers (sufferrers?) , but then beyond that there is always a tiny field of people who truly excel.

Chris is in that last group. I used to be an "extreme" flyer, but if you compared my travels with his - I am but a home-bound pauper :) I forget his obscene/admirable SC tally - but it is truly fearsome. 6000+ was possibly a "light" year? :)

@Fergo747 and @calmelb maybe I was not clear and to be honest I did not pay much attention to the recent QF extensions or which months it was applied to. I was already in that retain category and any status extension given did not apply to myself. Since my wings were clipped I will Also loose around 5 months of P1 benefits what ever they may be (Mar-Jul 20) . Starting Aug 20 I am of course interested if QF will extend comp status, if I cannot start flying until say Nov 20 that will only give me 9 months to retain P1. This will mess with wider program, being in any 12 month period I normally fly enough to retain P1, *G with SQ and VA WP plus enough to gift SG or WP on an annual basis. 2 out the 3 main airlines I travel with have given blanket 12 extensions for all status holders. QF on the other hand seems to have made it more difficult than required.
