Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Still waiting to hear their plans to look after FFs who didn't benefit from the first round of status extensions.

Have missed out on 3-4 months of current year's benefits, and will likely miss out on 3-4 of the new year (start of June) for which I had already requalified. Poor form.

Yes agree with that. March anniversary and had already re qualified so got nothing. Given my work has had travel restrictions in place since early Feb, I have so far missed out on ~4 months of benefit and given that the majority of my travel (>90%) and SC's are from int'l flying, at this rate I cannot really see myself getting any real benefits of my status this year.

I got my P1 briefing email.
$50 off Qantas wine with a $199 purchase, ends 30 June.

I did get my Premium Qantas Wine membership renewed but no sign of the free gift:

Is the gift a once off?
Last time it was a pretty nice red.

Once again no briefing for NZ based P1.

Agree. Also the longer it is before Trans-Tasman flights resume, or JQ domestic NZ flights, the harder it will be to requalify.

No lounge or flying P1 experiences yet and none for a while so this is all I have. Contacted the SST for some help in sorting out a family member's issue that had seemingly gotten bogged down in the morass of bookings, refunds and other delays. They got a call from the general FF team the same day. Happy with the result!

This thread is slowly dying... :p
I was curious about the time it would take for multiple QF refund claims to be processed. The P1 team followed up with whatever department involved and gave me a good estimate ( at least for 2 refunds which were received a few days later). Sadly that's about the only interaction this P1 has had with QF since March...

I've been transitioned to tier "Platinum Zero" through February 2022. Zero status credits and zero chance of getting on a QF international flight to return home for a long time.

I have benefited from short call centre waiting times and fast refunds for my QF-cancelled flights.

I was offered a place on the 747 farewell flights, but no trip home to be able to partake in the offer. :(

I'm sorry you can't get back for it.

Interesting that you got an offer, but as I am in LeperLand of MEL I received not an email.. which I actually thought was QF being smart since no way to get to one of the flights... maybe it was just a happy accident.. or unhappy for those of us for who it is impossible to go.

Didn't receive an offer for the 747 flight (and sold out by the time I made it to the site 10mins after they opened sales), and have been waiting two weeks for a refund so far....

When those flights were mentioned, I thought it'd be nice if P1s were offered it (for free) - then I saw that QF was reserving a few J seats but we still had to pay, which reminded me my expectations are unrealistic. I didn't get any offer (not that us Victorians can get out), and still no magazines in the mail either!

Demand was always going to be high so I'm not surprised P1s would also be charged. I appreciate being given an advance opportunity to reserve a seat, which I ultimately declined. Would have felt very artificial to me (a 747 flight around Canberra). I prefer my own 747 memories to a few trinkets and photo ops.

Hopefully staff get some good access and not CLs.

Sadly through my comms on this opportunity I heard the SST remain all stood down for the moment.

Few refund issues resolved but otherwise no benefits, nor flights on the horizon. Two recent trips to Europe cancelled, others not booked, and appears more will be cancelled. Would be interesting to know if they will extend P1 for another year given few will have an opportunity to utilise anything in the near future nor gain status flying.

Thoughts?

Who are managing the SST then if the team is stood down?
I'm still being looked after by the SST. Seems as though they are working from home, judging from the contact process. If you ring between 9 and 5 you get a recorded message telling you that you can only ring between 9 and 5 and if you ring outside these hours, you'll be diverted to premium reservations. Not quite sure of the point of the message as you don't get it if you ring outside of 9 - 5, you just get diverted....
After the message your call goes through but it's obviously going through to a mobile, judging by the messages if it's not picked up. Once through, it's business as usual and they've been quite happy to help with my domestic queries and seat allocations.

Some of us were not extended, having already requalified P1.

Yes agreed and understand that demand here is going to be much higher than the supply so charging pretty much is par for the course (except of course for employees who won the seat lottery).

As a P1 (that also missed out on the extension as I had re qualified and have a March anniversary) I would have liked to be given the advanced opportunity that other P1's were afforded to purchase a seat on the flight. Unfortunately due to work, by the time I was able to log on last week all seats were well and truly gone.

re the 747. I have NO issue with being charged. If I could have gone that is :)

I think it's a lovely idea by QF to reserve for some P1's the chance to have seats upstairs. I do think it's a bit unreasonable to expect it for free though. Maybe a little discount would make some sense but I mean these are high demand they can sell all those seats and don't really care. I reckon some P1 avgeeks I know would even pay a slight premium to have that P1 reserved seat (maybe not.. but I could see it).

Specially in these times QF need every cent.. even for joyflights in a bloody expensive beast so I don't begrudge them charging at all.

As for all the extensions and all that ongoing argument. Sure, I too will likely not be able to make much use of my extra year of status. Would be nice but seems unlikely.

All I can say is what I always say. The longer this goes on QF are aware and they will most likely do more down the track. given that covid effects seem to be extending its own status and hanging around like a DYKWIA far longer than wanted this keeps forcing QF (and other airlines) to massively pair back flying(as we all know) and opportunities for us to get out there - even if we're willing and able.

he real question is when it may be decided that things are enough back on track for more normal flying ability and thus then making a decision regarding what to do about elites.

Encouraging to hear that the SST are back in the office today. Only at 16% capacity but it does show a glimmer of light from the oncoming train.

Based on this, you don't need 4 QF flights to requalify P1 and the QF SC threshold drops from 2700 to 900 SC:

To keep my current status, do I still need to reach the four flight minimum rule?
Yes. In addition to earning the required Status Credits you will need to take a minimum of four Eligible Flight Segments (where a QF, JQ, 3K or GK flight number is on the ticket) in each Membership Year to reach or keep Silver, Gold or Platinum status.

Once I receive the Status Boost, how many Status Credits do I need to keep my status?
The number of Status Credits required varies based on status. The below table outlines the number of additional Status Credits and eligible Qantas Group flights required to keep status for the Membership Year that you receive the Status Credit Boost in.

SilverGoldPlatinumPlatinum One
Status Credits1253006001,800 (with at least 900 from Qantas marketed flights)
Qantas Group flights444

If you could do three F segments on QF1/2 it'd get you over the line. 😂

This is good news. Was wondering how I was going to maintain next year having (getting?) to take 3-4 months off flying for paternity leave/travel pause.

Love that it also counts for LTP, will be 0.0001% closer with that extra 1800... haha
