Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Reading the fine print in the same link 2 posts above:
There is SC support that gives P1s 150 SC per month that counts toward P1 requalification, but does not specify if it does or does not count toward the 900 QF SC requirement. Different and in addition to the boost mentioned in my last post.

Anyone want to guess if it would?

Might help for those that earn the bulk of their SCs using partner airlines, but given the current situation....


What will the Status Credits from the Status Credit Support count towards?
The Status Credit Support will contribute towards reaching and keeping all tiers as well as reaching Lifetime status. The Status Credit Support will not contribute towards any of the bonuses including the Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward and Platinum One Bonus Reward.

When will I receive the Status Credit Support?
The Status Credit Support for eligible members will be credited on a monthly basis from July 2020 to September 2020 based on your status end date. Members who have a March - June 2021 status end date will receive their Status Credit Support (backdated to April 2020 where applicable) by 22 July 2020. For members who have a status end date of July and August 2021, you will receive a confirmation email in August and/or September sent to your preferred email address on your Qantas Frequent Flyer account when they’re awarded as per the below table.

My guess is no, they won't count towards the QF SC requirement. The way I read it, the maximum SCs one could earn from this is 2700. That is, 1,800 from the 50% status boost plus 900 (150 x 6 months - Apr to Sept) from the status support. That still leaves 900 SCs to achieve / retain P1 at the 3,600 mark which is how I believe that QF came up with that magic number for the QF SC requirement.

I'm honestly not sure what anyone could expect more of QFF (there will be some no doubt).

I’m pretty pleased with this. It encourages flying in a way that blanket status extensions would not.
I still won’t get over the line though as I would need just under 1200 SC between when international starts again if it’s end March 2021 and my year end at end of May.
I’d give it a red hot go though 🤩

It is more generous than I was expecting. However, if Australia continues to keep out non-Australians, it still could be very difficult to achieve for some of us. I don't particularly fancy having to do 45 JQ domestic (in NZ) max bundle flights in a few months to get the remaining 900 QF marketed SCs (plus of course whatever balance of the 1800 total SCs are needed).

and QF have clearly shown that they are moving with the times and will recognise the realities as they unfold.

Yes it's tough. yes future is largely a big ? specially as things race back out of control here in Oz, and all the projections of nothing "normal" till maybe 2023 etc...

and even if we get a new normal next year sometime and people start to get back out there and earning yes there will be those who can and those who can't (and I suspect I will be one of the later personally as it happens due to reasons) and well.. that's life..

.. but I am confident QF will continue a strategy to support (sorry StatusKeeper) their elites as they have now done twice in the space of a few months.

I appreciate that QF are trying here, but I think they’ve missed the mark here. I have a March status anniversary and had already re-qualified for P1 (by a wide margin) so didn’t benefit from the original status extension.

If I understand this new program correctly, I’ll still need to earn 900 SCs on QF metal by end of March 2021 to re-qualify. With QFi grounded through next March, all of those will need to be on QF domestic.

Meanwhile, someone with a February status anniversary was automatically extended to Feb 2022, (when there is a reasonable chance COVID will be behind us) and will get further support to re-qualify for the following year!

They’ve made this whole thing unnecessarily complex – and unfair. Just extend everyone until the whole COVID thing is over.
 
Got my 1800 SC. Also had 100 SC rollover from points club plus which have not contributed to anything (just an observation) - still need 1800 SC with 900 on QF flight numbers to retain P1.

Don't know what's better, half price requalification during a pandemic or double SC on QF metal in normal times :D
 
I think it is a good offer from QF but I would have also preferred a blanket 12 month extension. My new year start next month and I had also retained P1 when the initial extensions were handed out, so no benefit to myself. Although it would appear that I will only need 1500 SC by the end of Jul 21 and in any other year I would not consider this to be an issue as I normally retain P1 win around 6-7 months. Even with domestic travel on the cards I cannot see myself doing any significant travel until the new year mainly as most of my domestic travel to to/from MEL. If international opens up in March/ April I am pretty confident that this travel will be severely cutback. I think the only hope I may have of retaining P1 post Jul 21 is a DSC offer and even then that could be questionable and I will not be chasing it. If I retain P1 or not I am not fussed by the time Jul 21 comes around I would have been a P1 for 6-7 straight years and it may be time for a break.

I will curious to know what happens to my partners WP status. I know this has always been tied to mine however with a Feb end date I think she was automatically extended through to Feb 22 but maybe wrong.
 
partner and gifted status was extended per the March extension and should, as far as I can tell, get the StatusBoost and StatusKeeper SC's as outlined by QF.

And well see everyone has their own view and situation where they are either happy or unhappy. You can't make everyone happy all the time.

I wonder if QF offered a choice of Boost SC or a extension there would still be unhappiness.
 
In relation to partner status I am more interested what will happen to to her status if I do not retain P1 through to Jul 22. As far as I am aware when I fall back to WP she will automatically drop back to her original NB status in line with my year end however I may be wrong. This year she was extended to Feb 21 as per normal as I was P1 then the QF extension kicked in and I vaguely remember email stating that she had been extended to Feb 22. I did look at the QF email sent the other day and she will get the 600 SC boost which will make no difference to her as her travel is normally on points.

The only reason I am interested to know if she will retain WP though to Feb 22 is that we will be planning to travel in late 21 (if allowed) and if she will still have OWE status. Are there any former P1's that can advise what actually happens to the gifted WP status i.e. when does it cancel if you do not qualify. Our first world problems.

Overall I believe QF is taking the correct approach. It is better (for QF) to provide status relief in manageable chunks rather than hand out too much and have to claw it back. There's no reason to believe more relief will not be forthcoming as we plough further into CovidWorld. The 'March Problem' is a situation QF might ultimately have to manage manually and maybe on a case-by-case basis.

Yes Matt, she should already have Plat till Feb 2022. My gifted plat (same thing) was extended like everyone else (and they REALLY did well!)

Why not go into the app and look at the electronic card which shows the expiry and you should have it confirmed there.

Feb folkss really lucked out with the current situation (not any sort of complaint btw)

How come? If your membership was ending Feb 21, then at the time the 12 month extension was handed out these folks were automatically extended to Feb 22. Now with 'StatusKeeper' (love the name btw) these same Feb people will also get 50% of their required SC in March next year meaning that between 1 March 2021 and 28 Feb 2022 they will only need to earn 50% of the required SC to maintain their level.

Alternatively a person with a March 21 YE missed out on the 12 month extension, and will have all their StatusKeeper SCs applied this membership year meaning that they will need to earn the required SCs prior to 31 March 2021 to requalify to March 22. Based on the fact that QF have cancelled all int'l flights until March 21 I'm finding this highly unlikely.
 
And that's exactly why Feb folks "lucked out" as I say it because they have the most generous (in terms of time) window for status. Either they got status extended till Feb 2022 and/or a boost to retain between March 21 and Feb 22. In theory, if we get a fair amount of flights back from say APril 21, then those Feb folks get 10-11 months of earning to take them to Feb 21 expiry.. more than the March folks.

As I note elsewhere with all the changes there's a bit of swings and roundabouts here and for "most" hopefully it will all come out in the wash. For me I'm an August so kind of in the middle of the two more or less.

just my view. And again I'm not knocking anyone with an apparent (as of now) advantage - and who knows what the landscape will be like this time next year in terms of where any individual sits, the travel world and QF's (ongoing0 response. All still question marks right now.

Well my former P1 experience was before COVID (in 2018), but my hubby dropped back as soon as I lost my P1. My year end was Mar, and his was May. They actually made him do a full initial WP qualification with 1400 SC, not even a re-qual at 1200SC. We were both pretty cheesed off. I hope your situation is a bit better than that - could be that the blanket extensions might help you out.
