Qantas Platinum One experiences?

@Stevo.1702 no concerns with what you have posted. My nomination was also over the phone, and if drops on the day or the days there after I do not retain. It was what I was expecting if things go any other way it is a bonus. I would not be asking either.

I would be confident in suggesting that a number of P1s have work out all types of glitches/ loopholes in the QF systems, how to make the most out of them and never post/ discuss the details and bring it to QFs attention.

My experience with gifting Plat has suggested to me, along with the other evidence here, that QF gives the most generous status gift depending on the anniversary date. I know that sounds unusual but bear with me :)

As above, 7 months extra based on the later giftee's membership date. In my case, I gifted Plat to someone whoose anniversary date was a couple of months earlier than my own (June v Aug). They received Plat aligned to MY anniversary (ie Aug) and once I switched to someone else for gifting (long story don't ask etc) they reverted back to their usual anniversary of course (but sinc I'd made the change AFTER their anniversary date had passed, ie I changed around the time of my own anniversary when I had requalified P1) IIRC they continued with their plat (!) so here was a situation last year (possibly covid influenced) where I had two giftees with WP status at the same time. This may not occur again and I wouldn't suggest trying to manipulate things to create this kind of outcome.

Again anecdotal of course but it does seem like there is a weird kind of consistency (! yes I wrote that!! ) involved. Maybe :)

Did anyone else notice that P1 lounge invites have been extended. These are the one that QF sent when they did the almost blanket extension around May 20? I remember seeing these appear as it was earlier than expected, I think they then changed at some point to Nov 21 now Feb 22.

Interesting - mine are still showing as Nov 21.

On a semi related note, I realised that I had not received my lounge passes for this membership year (ticked over in April) so when I called yesterday to change a couple of flights I enquired and they are still looking into it. Bianca from the VIP Team has been very good though.

Yup I also only have Nov 21 expiry date on a P1 pass.
Maybe it is linked to membership anniversary? Or Matt is special (well obviously.. !) :D

Well what I meant to being linked to the anniversary is more about when originally issued and originally set to expire? eg if one's anniversary was say April 30, and the passes originally expired a year later(or whatever) they may have been extended but say one's anniversary is September 30, they still would have validity already for a fair amount of time. I hope you can follow what I'm getting at (coffee has not kicked in :) ).

Basically me trying to find a reason for why some passes would have been extended and some not.

Received a bizarre email from the VIP Service Team today:

I had most recently called the VIP Service Team on Friday evening (30APR) and flew HBAMEL on 03MAY.

Nice of them to think of me, but not sure their record keeping is crash hot!

There’s there a ‘Qantas Platinum One - Past & Present’ group on Facebook for anyone interested.

Out of curiosity how many from this site joined or enquired to join the FB site when @funkyr posted the message there were 13 members. While on the computer this evening there were some FB notifications going on. The P1 members has now grown to 22.

Was delightfully surprised to be welcomed back to flying on QF for first time since Pandemic started yesterday with an invite to the CL from the VIP Team which I enjoyed yesterday morning with a Sparkling Wine Breakfast. Things did go a bit pear shaped when my flight was cancelled, but everyone looked after me without much fuss. I spent way more time than one needed in there as a result, but there are way worse places to hang out that's for sure.

It was great to fly again - even with the masks and all.

Another great experience with the VIP team asking them for a small favour. As yesterday was Mother's Day and also happened to be my mother's birthday and she happened to be flying with Qantas, I asked for a message to be put on her boarding pass. This was all arranged without fuss and was certainly appreciated by me. I know that she got a real kick out of it too.

I know there are several benefits for Platinum One that are not published on the site, is there anywhere or does any one have a list of all the current benefits?

What exactly do you mean in terms of unpublished benefits? the "random" (or 1 in 10ish?) upgrades? the event or CL invites?

I think a list would be anecdotal at best and hardly definitive and potentally raised expectations in some reasons.

There are unpublished benefits for sure, and some get more than others. I don't personally worry if I have an invite to the opera or CL or an upgrade in terms of the value of P1. Nice for sure. cherry on top definitely but I have zero expectations for things that are not published benefits.

I agree Richard but for example the Avis membership that people have been touting but isnt published

The email implied that it was a targeted offer that shouldn’t be shared.
I don’t think you will get too many current P1’s myself included who would share unpublished benefits on the internet.
This thread gives multiple examples of individual experiences with P1. Beyond the published benefits they are just that and don’t really lend themselves to listing as not every P1 has the same experiences.

I would even argue that the invite to events is a published benefit....although not necessarily applied consistently hence leading to raised expectations as you mention.

Agree with the responses… I’ve never had a CL invite, event invite, sim or ‘enjoy your flight’ upgrade but have had the wine, book, inflight cards and Avis membership. We all know (or say) about the inconsistency for any level so I try not to have expectations. In all I think this thread is the best place to look for benefits and experiences.

Being able to get row 4 and preferably 4A is really all I look forward to most of the time. I sit next to CLs now and then and don’t see them getting anything extra, so I don’t expect much onboard.

It's only a benefit if you get it! 😂

Just like some others here, I've never been invited to any event - not that it bothers me. There's only so many that can be given out and whilst all P1s are equal, some are more equal than others.
