Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Received an unexpected email today it was a P1 invitation to the ballet.
You still fit in your tutu? remarkable! Kudos! 🤣

seriously though great they are still doing events and things (must be super uncertain in these times).

Hope you can take advantage of the offer !

They did have a most satisfying clunk though.

Never used them or saw anyone physically using it ... but I have seen it old movies where the receptionist at a hotel or the booking agent would place the card on a white paper thingy and run a piece of black metal over it ... Like you said, it had a satisfying sound :)

My dad says that he used to make photocopies of his uni lectures using a roneo machine ... I guess this card reader works in a similar concept.

It will be a squeeze to get into my tutu but will give it a go. :p I have accepted the invitation, from past experience invitations to the ballet are have a bit more flexibility than other event types. Last time I was invited the tickets were used by Mrs and MissM as at the last minute I could not attend. SST had no issues in them going.
Which ballet, Matt?
The AB has cancelled so many performances over the past year or so, that it is difficult to keep up.
Fingers crossed that yours goes ahead, wherever and whenever it may be.

Great!
We have had two cancellations of AK so far, in Melbourne. Now re-scheduled for October, replacing the previously re-scheduled, now cancelled, New York Dialects.
It has been a stormy time for the arts!

Some good experiences lately. Prior to travel, had a series of flights scheduled for mid July and August disrupted. Waited a bit for things to settle and see how many borders would be shut to me. Cut plans back to a very different Winter escape to Queensland with completely different flights and dates on the spur of the moment - the evening before hoped for travel. Contacted the VIP team to rearrange everything. Got through immediately and 5 minutes later all done. Flights I wanted booked, refund processed and later bookings placed as vouchers. At a time when the phones must have been running hot, this was so valuable.

Also received an invitation to the Chairman’s Lounge in Brisbane. Gratefully accepted. Have to say though it was pretty underwhelming. Yes, comfortable and quiet. But very average tasting food, forgotten orders and passengers encouraged to leave the lounge as soon as flights started boarding. Still, a welcome invitation.
And no surprise further disruptions and cancelled flights. Called again this afternoon. Changes made in a few minutes. Great service from Melissa and Karen in Hobart.

3 calls recently to cancel 5 trips impacted by bubble pause. Good service in all calls and quick to answer (less than one ring up to 5 rings cf hours on hold for those without status or low status).

Interesting email to drop into the inbox this morning....tempted as I only have a couple of new pairs of PJs left, but knowing how the QF PJs wear, not sure they're worth $75

Just got the same email and posted the details to the masses as it will most likely go main stream. I still have a slightly used set of the Road to Rio PJ's. Maybe not worth $37.50 a set, if it goes main stream they will most likely end up on ebay for twice the price.

Well I am happy to report that my 1 flight and a few more paid off and I am now a P1 for another year but not sure what benefits will be realised. The SC rollover was was inline with what I thought it would be however without international travel this maybe my last year as a P1 unless QF come up with another extension offer.

I received 1800 rollover SCs but 0 are treated as being QF. While most of my flights were JQ there was some on QF during the trans-Tasmsn bubble being open.

So need 2700 SCs on QF to retain P1. What was the point of 1800 rollover SCs? It may as well have been just 900.

Edited to add: I see rollover has been added to Lifetime tally so a bit closer to LTP.

I take that back. On closer inspection the start of year Lifetime tally is 1800 less than it should be. So really only 900 of useful rollover.

I've just realised that I'm likely to be leaving this hallowed forum. Virgin have introduced direct Launceston to Adelaide flights and for me, that's a game changer.
I needed to go to Adelaide. Only way I could do it with Qantas was to drive to Hobart (250 kms), fly to Brisbane, fly to Adelaide. All booked; $990. Then they cancelled the BNE-ADL leg. Next option, fly LST to BNE the day before, stay overnight, do BNE-ADL in the morning. Then I get an e.mail; my return ADL-LST has been moved from the 4th to the 13th. At no stage did I get a call from my P1 people "actively monitoring...". I gave up, cancelled entire trip. Flights, hotels, car all booked Qantas, all cancelled.
Plan B; Virgin, direct flight LST-ADL. Business $349. My return trip in J significantly less than one way with Qantas in economy. I was on track to hit my 3600 by the end of September and carry 1800 forward but it won't be happening now. I was advised years ago that P1 was pointless and the sweet spot was WP with both Qantas and Virgin. Up to now, VA has had little appeal but unless Qantas lift their game, I'll be seeing if I can at least hit VA gold by the end of November!
