Qantas Platinum One experiences?

No PJs loaded, so business PJs provided, amenity kit V basic. The dinner was shocking - particularly the cod…. Avoid the cod at all costs…what was I thinking. Wines (other than Bollinger) very average (Shaw and Smith battle ready Sav Blanc etc). Breakfast disjointed, late and only half of it came. Toilets could also do with an upgrade in size and quality.

QF not delivering on a product that sells at a premium is quite breathtaking.

No probs getting a F classic award SYD-LAX unlocked in July as a P1. Availability is showing P0 for the entire year so thought I'd ring up and try my luck. Came through with the goods over the phone. I did the same last year for 2xJ award seats BNE-SYD-HNL-SYD-BNE for July this year and same deal, approved while on the phone (although had to vary dates a little).

The P1 call centre/ask and see what they can do benefit is what I'll miss most if/when I lose P1...

I think getting seats on the US flights is relatively easy for us.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for QF 1/2/9/10

Agree.

Did they ring seating (put you on hold) or do it on the spot?

I will also also miss this. Over the past 10 years SST/VIP have always been able to find at least 2 seats in J or F for Mrs&MissM during school holidays, also when requesting for my parents most have been approved on the spot. Most of the time when putting in the requests the agent would mention it will most likely come back as denied but we will give it a go, I suspect this is most likely on the script to prep me for disappointment. Most of the time the bot said yes and if it was not approved a request to yield management normally came through with the goods.

yeah, VIP/SST have been great with opening seats - and yes on US routes I have found easier.. at least options within a day or two of the requested date if not on it.

It definitely is such a good benefit - realistically the BEST benefit in many ways imo.

Big argument at check in counter Sydney, flying international. Woman at the counter demanded to see my vaccination certificate. I said its not a requirement anymore, the country I'm going to doesn't require proof of vaccination. Told her I'm sick and tired of Qantas staff making up their own rules as they go along. Supervisor called and argument persisted until she made some phone calls. I was right, no apology. Not required to show proof of vaccination. Qantas the spirit of cough.

Whilst I understand your frustration I would just have shown it and moved on.

I feel a bit of sympathy for agents having to enforce not just their own company rules but also various departmental and countries’ requirements.

Having said that, wrongly applying rules can be harmful - what if a group of people had even wrongly denied boarding based on incorrect knowledge and application of the rules. Good luck getting compensation for all those losses and disruptions. Very disappointing when staff (who might be in good faith or otherwise) trying to apply what they believe is right aren’t accountable and keep perpetrating mistakes (have seen this happen).

That's fine. That is your prerogative. I'm not a sheep when I don't have to be, especially when it concerns my medical record.
I don’t regard my Int Vaccine Certificate in my Apple wallet as my medical record.
I wouldn’t care if check in wants to see it even erroneously.
Saves me time arguing by showing it and this little sheep can have some extra time for squid and Champers in the Flounge.

I appreciate YMMV, not sure any of this is a P1 issue though.
Mere WPs can check in at F.

Those Mere WPs are an excitable lot, whereas P1s consistently demonstrate a steadfast unhurried purpose with savvy beyond imagination.

I have never met an emotionally disturbed P1 yet.
I liked this but I think back in the day I did meet one.
Not saying who though 🤣

Perhaps best to try to take the specific and divisive issue (for some) of vax certificates to one side.

I do agree that being requested for any documentation that is not required is a customer service failure. Absolutely.

I also feel it is not specific to P1. It's unfortunate arguments had to break out and check in was delayed due to their error.

(@Sprucegoose - If a P1 is not an "emotionally disturbed" person.. does that make them potentially a "stable genius"? :D
