Didn't think it possible, but this briefing is even more devoid of substance than usual. Basically re-hashing stale news and mediocre benefits.

I requalified P1 a few months ago, 2/3 of the way through my year. Haven't flown much since but it's been almost entirely on VA. No forward bookings on QF as it stands. Really no incentive.

No offers for me for years. Aside from the Christmas gin gift I wouldn't be able to tell if I was P1 or not!

I understand this probably isn’t the best thread and this is a perennial topic of debate but I don’t get the comparison to VA. I see this on FB all the time and it truly baffles me.

As a content QF flyer I don’t understand how you can compare. The ground experience is so subpar, there’s no distinguishing between gold and WP on the ground, half of Australia has status on VA or is an eligible guest in their lounges to feast on their delights and the crowd is very SME focussed. I wish those well who choose to fly VA but I am a very happy QF flier who arrives early and gets very amicable crew and continues to see some marginal value in continuing to fly QF over others domestically and on certain other international routes.

Was this bit meant to be indicative of what you have flown?

Because I have already requalified
Mine is a gif which animates and stops about a quarter of the way, which is reflective of my SC earn.

I suspect that's what the "25" refers to in the file name.
Changing it to 50 or 75 changes where the plane stops.

This is on desktop, no idea what it looks like on mobile.

Hi All, Sadly I have to fly LHR to LAX in Y with American, as a PI do we get the same treatment as AAdvantage Executive Platinum for example free drinks in economy or do we have to like all others pay for Alcoholic drinks?

You get the benefits on AS as P1/ OWE.
But I think AA ditched it.
Hopefully I’m wrong.

Thanks Princess Fiona, I will let you know in October and thank you.

I do believe I found the response I was looking for.

Long-distance internationalExpand
For Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, the Middle East* and all other South America cities, enjoy:
  • Meal and complimentary beverages, including beer, wine and spirits after takeoff
  • Mid-flight snacks
  • Meal before arrival

Complimentary drinks and snacks

We offer fresh coffee, tea, juice, water and soft drinks, as well as complimentary snacks on board. AAdvantage Executive Platinum® and ConciergeKey® members also get a complimentary alcoholic drink and food menu item during their flight.

I took this as meaning on the long haul they didn't provide alcoholic beverages in Economy.

I recently flew AA LAX-LHR as a P1/OWE but it was in Y+.

We got alcoholic drinks included but I think that was because of Y+. You should definately get priority boarding (I think I was Group 2).

Wrong airport for your departure, but utilising the QF F lounge at LAX was miles better (and a lot quieter) for the late afternoon flight. Stock up at LHR in the T3 CX lounge beforehand....

FWIW, on all recent domestic AA flights (even short haul) I have been recognised as "Executive Platinum" and received a drink and Group 2 boarding.

Thanks Chooms I will be flying out from LA on BA to LHR then back through on the return to MEL so will get to enjoy the F lounge then. Luckily flights between OZ and US are in Business Class.

AA "long Distance" international Main Cabin provides complimentary booze on most flights, no matter one's status.

Pre COVID I flew from AKL to LAX in Main Cabin and it was "Full On".

There was a mature family seated near me and one 20 something (seated beside me) finally fell asleep after about their 12th Bourbon miniature. (served 2 up each time). They weren't too flash on arrival.

Op up tonight BNE-SYD. Very light load in J and Y so clearly not oversold. Makes sense for a late mid-week flight. Was showing on app earlier this arvo as ‘upgrade confirmed’ but I didn’t request upgrade… Good on QF for the proactive bump up though. More of it graciously welcomed as I’m back to being a whY warrior for domestic.

I just received an email from the VIP team congratulating me on retaining P1. I don’t think I have had one of these before. My year started on June 1st and I passed the threshold about a week ago.

Maybe it’s to encourage me to keep on crediting to them for the next 9 months 😂

Are you going to keep flying QF/crediting to QFF for the rest of the year?

Safe to say you didn't really need that last round of status support, PF? :P
