I just read this & thought about time!!! :) :) :)
  • No fee when you book flights over the phone via the Qantas call centre

I've done a couple of phone bookings as a P1 and the fee was never imposed. Indeed the lady at the call centre specifically mentioned to me once that P1s weren't charged the booking fee for phone bookings.

I wish I got that lady every time i ring, lol

For interest, why was it an AA problem? I assume you must have been on the AA codeshare/AA ticket but QF being the operating carrier I would still think it was still their problem in any case.

You are correct on both counts - I emailed the QFP1 team when sitting off the gate for 1 1/2 hours and the girl came back with "you need to talk to AA as its their problem and they need to re-route you." I will likely hand that email to Lesley Grant at the coughtail function in Sydney tonight..................

Will look forward to hearing her response to that one as it appears rather ordinary at best.

Just received an email outlining the new benefits.

Partner WP is nice for those who have a partner, so that is a positive. Partners of CL already get CL status as well. You only need 1800/2000 SC on VA to get the same thing however.

No assisted booking fees is a good step also. This should have applied for the start.

The fly ahead feature is a little useless on flexible fares only as when I travel for work it is in full Y (so no fees anyway) and when I travel otherwise it is on a red edeal ticket so it will not apply in these cases. The VA system may be better for me as they will allow fly ahead on all tickets subject to an equal or lower fare class seat being available.

The bonus FF points at 5000 and 7000 QF SC will not break the QF bank as I do not think they will pay these bonuses often.

The other things are a waste of time.

interesting to note one article stated there are less P1 then CL.

Just arrived in Perth from Sydney. When I checked in yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see that I'd been upgraded. It wasn't a full flight, so not just a standard upgrade.
When I boarded I noticed a message on the bottom of the printed boarding slip. 'Enjoy your flight - Platinum One Team'
I've not seen that before and think it's awesome customer service to get an upgrade and a note from the team.

I think that has been a benefit since P1 started.

And fly ahead on a flexi? Give me a break - it's a flexi!

Just back from the Sydney coughtail party - all very nice and civil. Lesley Grant (CEO of QF Loyalty) spoke about the new benefits and made a great deal of emphasis on the golf (useless to me) but surprisingly didn't mention the platinum membership for spouse / de facto partner (also pretty useless to me but good if anyone has a partner who travels a bit). Interestingly one of the QF loyalty team I spoke to had no idea about the dramas in Dallas last week nor who was on the P1 team in Canberra...........................other than that, the evening was all about how QF will return to profit having turned the corner etc and how they just love to receive feedback from their loyal frequent flyers. One day this lot might keep up with Virgin in terms of innovation and change...........

Exactly!
IMO anyone who is willing to pay the high cost of flexi, like $339 for one way MEL-SYD, deserves to be able to fly ahead on the day with no extra cost, regardless of their status.

Spin, yawn, spin, spin, yawn, yawn, yawn, more spin. Anyone who doesn't see straight through these events really should open their eyes. They are not about engaging their most valued frequent flyers and listening to feedback, they are about propagating AJ's latest sheet if spin!!
