Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Here is an interesting one and would appreciate guide from the AFF moral compass:

Flying whY from SIN to SYD, booked in a nice comfy window seat - non exit or bulkhead row, about 5 rows from the front of whY. P1 Puts in a nice shadow for me. A few hours ago that seat is all good. Get to the airport and stick the luggage in and hey presto 50G or some nonsense.

The check in agent can't tell me anything so I head to the lounge, the answer: tough luck chump, full flight.

I have no issue whatsoever in losing my shadow, full flight, I dig it, but I totally object to losing my checked in seat.

The attendant says well we can put you in a window if you want but we will have to inconvenience another pax, which is exactly what they did to me.
palce.
So I ask: WWAAFFD (what would an Australian frequent flyer do?)

I would be royally annoyed and ask why it happened. As a P1 you're entitled to the truth and if it was a really good reason you may let it slide. Otherwise I would call the P1 team and ask why and what they were going to do about it. I would also ask why the check in/lounge staff could tell you the truth and I would let them know that that was worse than being moved in the first place.

Trumped by a CL?

OT last week I noticed an upcoming flight we have ((J) BNE-SYD, connecting to (F) SIN) SWMBO and I were bumped from our long allocated seats in row 2 and split up for the BNE-SYD sector......I called the hotline and asked why, the agent couldn't explain, apologised and slotted us in row 1.....no doubt we'll get bumped again by a CL or P1.

Well I didn't ask for my seat back but I did get a window. I'm not sure that 2 wrongs make a right.

Thanks to expertflyer the lounge dragon couldn't pull a shifty on me.

Qantas at their best are the best in the world by a mile, they just need to be consistent about it.

Also a question for P1s the lounge tonight is chockers and couldn't get a seat, but there was a whole series of seats empty and reserved, are they only for CLs?

Your experience is appalling, I would be so disappointed and making my views known to the CSM in flight as well.

As an aside, we go to the EK lounge in SIN, in our experience the new QF lounge has been over crowded and over-run by children. Plus EK have better champes.

Today has been my best day in the short P1 land, 3 flights so far, all with a spare seat next to me in J (domestic), 2 of the flights were pretty full and J was full except the seat next to me, was certainly a positive..

Now if only they still had hourly flights back out of BNE to SYD, instead I am in the BNE J lounge for another hour (2hr 20 min wait)

I wouldnt bother doing anything as they will not bother doing anything. Had the worst service ever on QF2273 to Port Lincoln on Friday - service with a sneer from a sour and surly CSM. Deep Joy - WP1 on fire again..............first time I have flown domestic with QF in months. Virgin again tomorrow :-)

I would ask for my seat back.

And I have done same and got it back on more than one occasion. I am not giving up my bulkhead aisle for anyone unless I am going forward to better seat.

I'm just a lowly WP, but [thankfully] it has only happened to me once... bumped from bulkhead in Y+ to last row. A quiet and considered word to the lounge manager who informed me, and we were moved back and beyond the original assignment to J. Definitely a once off, I'd suggest!

Obviously I am not as lucky as you. I have lost count of the number of times it has happened. I have flights booked 10-11 months out and there is a reason I choose bulkhead even if it's not the most comfortable seat in economy.

I think they know I am a softie.

Pretty safe to say it was luck! I'll be happy to stay at 1 for 1 on this stat!

I can't recall if I'm dreaming this "benefit" up or not, but does Qantas send out wine for special occasions? I seem to recall P1 members used to get things, was it Christmas, or birthdays?

Can only speak for myself but to date only had 2 bottles of nice wine when I became a member of Epicure as a result of my P1 Status. It is my birthday on Sunday so will be interesting to see if they do anything or even if I get a happy birthday on my flights :) LOL

Neither for me. But then they do know I'm a teetotaler.

First year of P1 got normal welcome package from epiqure, then christmas got 2 bottles. Almost into my 3rd year and nothing since the 1st year.

Have to say WP1 is not really worth much considering the extra status credits and flying required.

Certainly nothing for birthdays, in my experience. In fact, I was amused to receive email greetings from six (I think) FF programs on a recent birthday, including one with an offer of bonus points. The flurry of greetings did not include anything from QF. :)

Not that I expected or wanted any greeting but I did think that the contrast was amusing, as my FF status with all of the other airlines is well below my QF "status". :)

I got 2 bottles on the first year and 2 more on the second year, nothing since.

Definitely not 3 times better then WP!

Nothing for me either, despite extensive purchases on Epiqure and a significant milestone birthday last month. Not expected, but would be a sign of going the extra mile for someone who has done extra miles with them.
