Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Guaranteed row 4/23 at booking time, soft landing to Platinum the year after and greater chance of op-ups are worth it.

They may be worth 3x WP to you. They aren't worth 3x WP to me.

I can pretty much always get row 4 at T-80 and I don't need a soft landing to WP if I have earned WP outright anyway.

To me, the "chance" of an op up is worth the same as the paper it isn't written on. YMMV.

In hindsight I should have used ~200,000 QFF points + ~$1600 to do a business Any Seat award BNE-MEL-PER-KTA return twice when I had the double SCs offer for 1,600 SCs and bona fide Platinum One.

I thought that some folk were suggesting that earning WP1 via DSC offers on JASA' s (or AA KUPP's) was not bona fide.

Irrespective of how P1 is obtained, at the end of the day we are all going to have different experiences, QF is the master of inconsistency, with arguably higher highs than any other airline, and sadly some lows which really make us think about our loyalty.

Qantas new about status runs well before P1 came out, they were and are still handing out DSC like mixed lollies, so there will always be Faux P1's but realistically, do those small numbers make any difference to how the P1 group as a whole are treated? Nope.

I'd suggest that PCV is still an important part of the upgrade/shadow/love stakes, and whilst it does suck to lose your shadow to a NB when there are plenty of other seats down the back it really doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

To me at least, What is interesting is given the drastic reduction of dom J seat availability with the 767 retirements, what will be the impact of shadow reduction and difficulty of row 4 seating in the future.

Had a flight BNE-CNS as classic redemption, with Mrs B, were seated row 4 with the "shadow" in between us, J only had 2 pax in total but no offer made even on board. We did get spoken to and thanked by the CSM from J cabin and she told us her "girls" back here would help with anything we needed.

Wow....

I get the worst QF domestic recognition (generally speaking) as a P1 on the BNE/SYD-CNS routes.

Paradoxically I get the best P1 recognition and service on MEL-SYD (where I'd least expect it).

Go figure.

And that is almost opposite of what I get: best recognition on CNS-BNE route (and when there were CNS crew times that again by 10), and on SYD-BNE, you're just one of the other many P1/CLs.

Only thing of note lately was the CSM recognising my status on boarding and pointing out to say if I needed anything at all just let them know. But then no other contact and I was content anyway.

Matches my recent experience. Over 5500 SC's and not a single cross continent upgrade - even after a week of lost bags, cancelled flights and other disappointments.

Irony is that I can fly in J if I want to, but have recently started to save the cash and go in the back as the J product is so inconsistent. On some of the grey seat 767's and 330's you are honestly better off in 23 with acres of space and fantastic service from the J galley.

So 10 months into WP1 - here is my experience:

Upgrades:
QF - SYD-LAX J -> F

EK DUB -DBX Y->J

Tickets to Taylor Swift concert (very happy daughter)
Offered tickets to Wallabies - France test in Sydney

Occasional greeting on domestic flights, 50/50 on international.

Would I chase.... probably not - back to WP in October....

This is disgraceful :evil: so much loyalty yet nothing in return

I hear you. Three years plus with over 5000 SC's and I've stopped even hoping. Not to say there haven't been upgrades, but they tend to be on the shorter trips when it doesn't matter so much.

What I do appreciate however is the surety of getting a seat you want, the ability to change flight at the airport if you are early and the ease of unblocking award seats. The team are really helpful and I've got them to thank for puting together a fabulous Europe trip in November when there was nothing showing on-line.

Well I never. I've just checked in for a Perth - BNE trip booked in Y and......

.....seat 1F!!! Nice one Qantas. Feeling the P1 love again!!!
