First time poster, just renewed P1 for 4th year. Had to post about recent P1 self assistance experience.
Have just been in Moscow and was booked to leave on QF8132 (EK metal) at 00.05 4th July to Dubai and then onto QF2 to Sydney (all in business class) Thursday evening (Russia time) text from P1 SST asking me to call as QF2 was going to be delayed by 10 hours so they were holding me a seat on Ek412 so getting home 1 hour later.
I called all was fixed, confirmed would get full QF pts etc - yes, changed Brunell chauffeur pickup.
All very smooth and easy and saved me from delays! OK couldn't use any of my many points to upgrade to F on QF2 but had got a free upgrade to F on the EK flight up to Dubai on the 29th.
One of the reasons despite everything else I try to only fly on Qantas metal.
Emirates was staffed by real people EK hosties in Business so was pleasant trip home
Happy to say that I have just received a P1 special invite to an Epiqure wine tasting in Perth next week. Even better, I can actually make it as I'm staying in one place next week!!!
The only lounge you should be missing is the First lounge. The domestic business lounges are so so and not that much different to the Qantas clubs.Except when you get to a lounge.
From a newly (due to demotion) created SG.
Have come across one CSM when flying in J domestic recently who was adamant that neither WP or WP1's warranted any special treatment and or drinks etc from J as they had not paid for it and this would devalue the J cabin if he were to do it.
So stump up for J or stay in Y and get the same as everyone else was the basic belief.
That left me unfulfilled (as I'm sure it did you as well) - I was expecting a "why don't you sit in this spare Business class seat" but it left me hanging.Haha it also happened to me once, found it very amusing.
I'll add one strange greeting I had recently:
The CSM greeted me as I entered the plane and asked why P1 sits so far down the back (exit row 14). Told him I just changed my flight and that was the best seat available. He then tore my BP stub and smiled. I never saw or heard from the CSM after that

I've retained P1 for the 2nd year also in Perth.
So far 112 sectors, mostly South East Asia, Singapore, China (Shanghai), Majuro (Marshall Islands), Hong Kong, KL, Indonesia, Kaohsiung, Dubai, Dublin and most Australian airports all for business and usually at short notice. I'm a bit of a fix it person, so a lot of travel and the client pays.

Upgraded on all 4 flights in 2 weeks was excellent and shadows on 3 is like WOW on QF.
My onboard op-up rate is shocking (probably I'm not sucking-up to the cabin crew enough).
TBH all I expected at that point was a glass of wine or something like that. I think this CSM had good intentions but simply forgot about me during the flight.
I have been moved forward by the CSM on more than one occasion.Onboard upgrades would only ever happen in extenuating circumstances (safety/operational reasons, very rare). Upgrades are processed on the ground through the normal channels (eg, points upgrades), and the CSM onboard doesn't have the authority to do anything onboard
