Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Interesting experience at AKL transiting on QF4. We were three P1 on the flight and in the jetbridge a QF Host was waiting for us to "escort us" to security and lounge. The surreal thing is that we had to wait in the queue with everyone else, she mentioned that the airport is not allowing them to bring passengers to the front of the queue anymore. So pretty useless service, I would have waited less if I had not accepted to be escorted. Even at the lounge she didn't bring us in front of the 15 people queue. So apart from having someone to chat with about the weather, I'm not sure there's a point to this service.

I’m open but I guess BA has the concept of jokers and extra guaranteed reward seat availability. I value upgrades when travelling for personal.

Could be CL invites, could be X number of upgrades or even could be a choice between those and gifting.

Just would be nice beyond just gifting things as a single guy as gifting is not incentivising in my personal circumstance.

The only thing you can rely on is people’s self interest.
I’d personally value a decent hotel status (not Accor preferably).
Jokers are a great benefit and would be a good addition to P1.

So too would be the addition of GUF1 and 2, just about to earn one of those myself.
Add in a couple of CL invites on top of the P1 F lounge passes and I’d be happy. Although I guess in the current environment we are less likely to see anything CL in correspondence.

That’s disappointing, I have had the service at AKL this year and it was straight to the front of the line at security. No point having it if doesn’t give priority.

Excellent escort service, from aircraft to Lounge and return right to the seat, at SIN a few days ago.
Immediate access to showers, and food service also arranged.
Full points.

I had a great escort experience at LAX a few weeks ago. There was a horror security line and the young lady was able to usher us all the way through to the front of the line and also pushed our bags through to the scanner while we moved through security. She then took us through to the lounge to the reserved seating area and finally on to the plan.

Excellent service and would have saved at least 30 minutes of standing in a queue through security.

Is this for an outbound or inbound flight from/to LAX?

Major US Hubs are always a nightmare to get through when other airlines also land around the same time (especially when x2 A380s land at the same time as QF!), and plus, we don't have Global Entry, which makes the wait longer; I had a 90-minute wait to get to immigration officer! If QF has started doing that from intl flights landing at LAX, it would be a huge lifesaver.

For outbound, AA also does that for their OWE equivalent status holders in the private check-in lounge (LAX and JFK of note). Not sure how the two systems interlink, but WP will show as Platinum Pro, and P1 will show as Exec Plat on their side.

It was for an outbound flight. It was the first time I had used the service - normally I skip check in and just join the security queue.

This time around my colleague (he was flying in F) had to check in and he stood in the line and the agent then offered the escort to him and I.

She then gave me a business card with their contact details. I was able to email them for my next trip to use the escort service inbound. I'll be doing that trip in a few days, so will report back on how it goes for the inbound journey.

Thanks for the heads up on AA as well.

I've had this same service outbound at LAX twice out of 6 departures on QF from LAX whilst P1 over the past 18 months.

I also once emailed that address they give you asking for assistance on an inbound with a tight(ish) connection. They promptly replied saying they would be more than happy to meet me on arrival at the plane - and then never actually did.

Ha ha - classic Qantas!

On QF37 this evening and been moved 4 times from my selected seat.
First time A staff member tool my bulk head seat 2nd time a family needed my seat yet no family in the seat, 3rd time broken seat yet a staff member was in that seat, I know this as crew were asking her about her upcoming flight roster. 4th the F Lounge staff moved me to get to an aisle seat from middle seat in a row of 4. Do you think I am being precious?

I had a similar experience when I booked 1A for a PER - LHR flight back in August; I was meant to check in online for it, but when it was time to check in - it swapped to 'please come to the terminal as there's an issue with your booking'. At the check-in desk, I was told that 1A had a 'broken seat' and had to move me (thankfully, just to 1K instead). However, there was someone in 1A for the entire flight... and it appeared the seat was working fine from observation.

Funnily enough, the crew and ground staff took very good care of a family (assuming either P1 or CL); they were row 3/4 instead! Due to the rerouting around the MENA, we had a stopover in SIN for refuelling. QF staff escorted them from the bridge to the QF First Lounge, and the chef personally came to say hi to them.

A side benefit of being WP and above, I guess, is being able to say hi to the captain and co after the flight and have a photo taken in the coughpit 😅

If a seat is marked broken at check-in, it will be allocated to standby staff, and commercial pax will be moved to another seat. The fact someone was seating there is not malicious. Staff often get moved around into broken seats, including mid flight. It’s unfortunate that it happened to you several times in a row.

A seat appearing working fine doesn’t necessarily have full functionality. And yes, staff passengers will be allocated those. It could be a minor defect, but an inconvenience for a commercial passenger requiring a potential seat reassignment mid flight. Hence, check-in staff will move commercial pax from a seat marked unserviceable at the time of check-in.

The thing is there were no broken seats. They all worked along with the IFE IPads

Do you know that for a fact? If a seat is marked by previous flight crew as playing up, engineers will have to look at it to clear. The malfunction can be benign, as in “jams occasionally”.

Yes I do I could see all the seats I was shifted.from. one seat wasn't working properly and required an engineer to fix, however that wasn't a seat I was moved from.. The csm.also confirmed the original.seat had a staff member on staff travel.in it. He was shocked.

Whilst I ended up in a seat with no one beside me, it involved being proactive and great service from the F Lounge. I was.merely asking what peoples opinion was of this.

Just an update on this with the latest trip to LAX for an inbound escort. It was a complete waste of time.

When we landed, they held us at the gate so they could herd P1s - the business class ones were easy, but then we had to wait for the P1s in economy to get offloaded. So by the time that happened, half the plane had left.

They then just escorted us to the back of the line we would have joined 10 minutes earlier if we had gone ourselves. It appears they don't have the ability to skip the entire line like they do outbound. So just an FYI - hopefully they will change the process in the future, but would be worth checking if you're using this service inbound in the future whether they have the ability to skip the line, otherwise you'll just be making small talk about the weather in the same line.

Experienced QF meet & greet by Amber at LAX today. Very nice but no advantage passing through immigration, greeters have no ability to fast track. Aircraft to bags in hand 30 minutes. Landing time of 7.30am ex QF93. Used MPC wait time15 minutes, quicker than the longer general entry que. Bags on carousal upon arrival, very fast for LAX. Plan to submit MPC in future and then choose the shorter Que. MPC expires after 4 hrs.. no use no problem.

Flew Y (exit row) MEL-DEL recently. Really good service - we were Consistently™ served first, ahead of other Y passengers. Handwritten card, pyjamas, bottle of wine and other gifts offered and mostly gratefully accepted.

Flew J back DEL-MEL. At check-in at DEL, we were escorted from the counters to (but not through) immigration. Don't know if this is given to other J pax. Onboard service absolutely identical to the rest of the J cabin. Despite being a classic upgrade, was able to choose row 1 at T-27. Arriving at MEL, had to wait at the carousel for half an hour for the last of our bags. I saw other priority bags also in this last bunch.

On a slightly different note, I wonder if P1 seating can sometimes 'overpower' and possibly disrupt others sitting together. On a couple of solo domestic flights, I seemed to split some pairs of people travelling together - eg. I'm in 1A and they'd end up in 1C and 1D or 1F, on either side of the aisle. I usually book and select my seats many weeks or months in advance (apart from upgrades of course). Maybe those pairs booked late and had to get what's left.
