"Qantas plots response to free Virgin Australia upgrades"

Generally if I find a reply to a thread with a story linked to Ausbt markis10 your comments are generally quite negative.
Of course sometimes the style of journalism is light but your options are blatant obvious and repetitive.

Ironic that AFF seems to run on rumour and speculation but a story on Qantas' response to Virgin giving away free upgrades 'is not news'. More of the same tired anti-ABT bias coming out here I think.

Come on, seriously. What actual news does that story contain?

I also think it's laughable that anyone would think Qantas give a flying #### about a single free upgrade. Well maybe they might just decide to reverse the allowance of upgrades for cheap tickets domestically.

Woooo..... what do you know?

Maybe the same way he 'knew' about Virgin upgrading the seats on their ex-Emirates A330s because they were sent to Manila to have the old cabins replaced with the new ones, except oh that's right, that didn't happen at all. Talk is cheap and rumours are free.

Lol, ex-Etihad A330's;)

If Red Roo posted that same reply on AFF in response to a member asking the question, and said "Qantas is not going to match Virgin with one-off upgrades" I reckon this would be a massive thread with a very high participation, so I don't see why when ABT reports it it is dismissed by some people as not being news.

Now I don't see every thread, but I haven't noticed Red Roo around lately?! :?:

Company reps tend to be quiet before earnings announcements, to a certain extent they are handcuffed by stock exchange rules.

I think journalism is probably an over used word when it comes to blogs especially when you look at the contributors, on the other hand AFF is a community of frequent flyers sharing their experiences, yet ironically they see fit to credit their sources? Accuracy is often wanting when it shouldn't be it a blog or some of the "press", on the other hand, a community of discussion that often means peer review sees truth emerge, and it's all time stamped! Food for thought?

Always happy to throw bouquets when it's deserved, and have done so many times, but a piece of hot air that says nothing's its hard to disguise, and when it's the same old same old, it's nowhere near news. Bring on tomorrow, when we do get to hear real news (and maybe a smile on Boeing reps faces).

The VA rep has been equally quiet as well...

Dean from their Social Media team left a while ago, and I believe he was the main instigator behind their presence here. It now seems quite dormant, but I have noticed a post here and there.

I have noticed more from Redroo than the VA rep TBH with you.

I didn't see a big smile on the faces of Boeing reps when Qantas put its chequebook back in its pocket, Markis10. Looks like another of your 'inside tips' missed the mark.

Every chance he may have been facetious?

Maybe Boeing were expecting the whole order to be cancelled:idea:

I like the idea its an inside tip, LOL, it was speculation, hence the use of the word maybe! If it was real, maybe would have been replaced with expect, its well known that a major airline is talking to Boeing about a possible 777 and 747 order to replace their ageing fleet with something that is not going to be delayed because its mostly a new design !

Ah yes, speculation and rumour and gossip, not 'news' of course.
