And IIRC, people here did question the wisdom of that - or others' similar - usage at the time.
It is not like the bidding on eBay or other online auctions when you can put in your max bid and it works up to that based on what others bid. In the QF auction whatever number you bid and if it is the highest offer this becomes the new highest bid. It is more like the house auction or in person auctions.Someone likes the number 48!
