Qantas Points Auction

So an auction "regular" QFF's can enter? So is this like for example "We have 1000 J lounge passes - put in your bids starting at 5k points" or something? then the top 1000 bids get a pass? (as example)? they could do that with PJ's and other things of a lower value..

the other thing I realised they could auction off is more bar carts!

At the end of the day, its a mugs game. All of the cards are in the hands of the airline and we are just the sheep that follow.

I too was once blinded by the points chase and loyalty, but as you grow and learn you realise you've been manipulated and hoodwinked. Once you release the Qantas shackles you very quickly realise that there are much better airlines out there, with better products, services, schedules and prices than what Qantas could ever hope to offer.

As for how safe the points are, take one look at Ansett global rewards......

This is why having a lower value points auction is a good idea. I am reluctant to ever let my points balance get that high unless there is something specific I want to use them for

Yes, something in the lines as you mentioned. Some items that are considered useful for everyday folks ... a bar cart is a good example, although, it might not be "everyday" item for everyone. But still it's good to have it in the bar room and show off to your mates.

Or, they could auction off an evening on a boat at the harbour, say something you'd like to do with your loved one or ones ... may be a nice meal at one of them fancy restaurants .. etc etc

Something that people will be able to realize the "value" in ... "value" in this case being something that an everyday Joe will enjoy and appreciate ... AND, importantly economical. Not looking at a 500K point for an evening at the harbour ...

But how do you fence it to "everyday members"? What's to stop Mrs Collins St Banker from bidding 500K for coffee and party pies with Neil Perry?
 
IMO the London package is the "best" one (obviously so subjective - the ADL one is great for foodies for example).

The caveats to fly by May is a bit of a funny one given the current situation, so may dull some bids, but I could see that one going for quite a bit. I would be shocked if it did not raise over 2.5m points tbh. It looks great!

the others.. eh.. a droopbed who would want that? some PEY seats? eh.... maybe for the bar cart brigade? lol (although looking at my couch that is half dead..... :D )

we shall see how it goes I guess. Certainly a lot of points out there looking to be used.
 
Or the pair of (battered?) Y+ seats with TV screens that don’t work. Possibly not so inspiring.

Going to be hard for anyone with work/family responsibilities to make the London trip work.
 
900,510 was the final bid so a 5 day trip to ADL vs a similar amount of points to redeem x2 OW F rewards. I know what I would rather drop a lazy 900K QFF points on.
