Qantas Points Club Discussion

My Qantas end of year is end of May. I qualified for Points Club in early May and was given 2 lounge invites on May 13. However I haven't received any for this year (i.e. June 2020 - May 2021). Am I correct in thinking I am due 2 more lounge invites for this year?

My understanding is that you receive two passes each time you qualify/requalify for Points Club. So you won't receive another two invites this year unless you earn 150k points by May 2021.

Are you talking about more Passes for being LT Silver? Or just on points club? I’m unsure how the rollovers happened for LT status, but I’m aware some got passes before the end of their current membership year during the status extension exercise by Qantas.

edit: thinking about it more, you would only get 1 pass for LT silver. So I’m guessing you are referring to points club. I think sudoer is right, as I believe you get the passes issued close to when earned rather than your membership year end.

Just Points Club. I am LTS and always get one lounge pass every May and this year I received it on May 4. I thought with PC that you qualified for up to 2 years - the balance of the year you qualified in and the following year. So I was wondering if I would get 2 lounge passes for each year.

This is what I got from the FAQ section of the compare benefits page (Between Points Club and Points Club Plus).

Once I'm in Points Club, how long will I enjoy the benefits for?
You can enjoy your membership benefits from the moment you unlock Points Club, until the end of your next Membership Year. So, for example, if your Membership Year begins on 1 January 2020 and ends 31 December 2020, and you unlock Points Club or Points Club Plus in June 2020, you can enjoy your membership benefits until 31 December 2021. To enjoy your benefits for longer, just earn 150,000 or 350,000 points each Membership Year to retain Points Club or Points Club Plus.

Despite the potentially clumsy wording, I think it infers you get the lounge passes at the time of earning/posting of points once per membership year. Other benefits eg 5% discount on reward store, SC on reward flights you can potentially benefit from for more than 12 months.

Thanks for your response. However I understood the wording 'and you unlock Points Club or Points Club Plus in June 2020, you can enjoy your membership benefits until 31 December 2021.' to suggest that I should receive 2 years worth of lounge passes.

Regarding the SC's on Reward bookings - does it have to be a QF flight number ? For example does a Reward Seat (booked on the Qantas website) SYD - DUB which shows as EK 417 qualify for SC's? Thanks

Correct, it must be a QF flight number.

EK417 wouldn't qualify for earning classic award SC, even though the same flight is also sold for cash as QF8417. Unfortunately it's not possible to book a classic award on the QF codeshare.

I understand it to mean you receive the benefits until the the end of the following year, but that is your year’s benefits. So two lounge passes on requalifying, and only on requalifying. Not two year’s worth.

James4321, you also won’t get into the Qantas lounge with an EK flight number on your boarding pass. (If flying economy and wanting to use a lounge pass.)

I followed up this issue with Qantas by email. I asked direct questions but received torturous answers. Qantas response is essentially that the year that you qualify and the following year represents one membership year so therefore I am only entitled to one set of lounge vouchers. They really do need to write clearer, more concise plain English t&cs and FAQs.

Reading through this thread I see that some Points Club Plus members who's FF membership anniversary has passed since getting PCP have received the 100 SC Rollover benefit? Can you please confirm?

I was awarded Points Club Plus on the day it launched in March, my FF anniversary was at the end of May (I held 730 SC's at the time) and I have not had the 100 SC's rollover apply to my account.

I've queried this a couple of times with Qantas via phone and email but still no rollover of SC's. In fact I received an email from them saying that the SC rollover wouldn't apply until my next FF year which starts on June 1st 2021.

Is this just me? Have other members received the 100 SC rollover? Has anyone else been denied it?

My membership year starts on 1 April. I also was awarded Points Club Plus in March when it launched and the 100 SC rollover was posted on 1 April at the same time as the annual expiry of my credits.

Confirmed, see post #220 for more detail.

Not just you. Seeing no sign of the rollover three weeks after my anniversary, I had the below conversation with QFF via email:

Qantas Frequent Flyer said:
We acknowledge that for Points Club Plus members, 100 Status Credits will roll over at the end of the membership year.

To clarify, in accordance with the Points Club Terms and Conditions which states "A maximum of 100 Status Credits will roll over to Points Club Plus members’ next Membership Year. Status Credits that are rolled over will contribute to attaining or retaining a member’s tier status, except for attaining or retaining Platinum One status." This means, if you achieve Points Club Plus in your last membership year ending in June 2020, the Status Credits Rollover will take place at the end of your next membership year which will be on June 2021.

Apologies if my original request was not clear. I became a Points Club Plus member and started qualifying for those benefits during my previous membership year (Jul 2019 - Jun 2020)

As per the T&C you have provided, "A maximum of 100 Status Credits will roll over to Points Club Plus members’ next Membership Year" indicates 100 status credits from my previous membership year should roll over to my current year.

Could you please confirm that interpretation is correct? If so, could you please credit my account for the missing status credits?

Makes no sense to credit the SC in the last month of the following membership year if you want to encourage your members to chase SC, but I shrugged my shoulders and decided to follow up in June 2021 if I needed the 100 SC to retain.

Then they magically arrived three weeks later... go figure.

It has long been my experience with some QF customer service agents, that where something has failed (points credit, benefit application etc.) the agent just makes up any old story that means that what actually happened is actually correct.

A QF agent could easily tell you, with a straight face, the tail of their company’s aircraft is painted green.🤣

Back OT: I got the 100SCs on the first day of my new status year.

100% agree - I figured this rep was making things up, but as I had it in writing that the SC would be credited in June 2021 (i.e. in my current membership year) I didn't bother arguing.

Yeah same with me, I have it in writing and there is no ambiguity which is why I was so confused to then read about others getting SC's rollover.

Oh well, back to the phones I guess, I'm pretty sure I'll need all the SC's I can get my hands on to maintain my status for the next year, even with the extra assistance QF is offering so it's worth my while in chasing this down.

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated.

If you don't get anywhere on the phones I'd wait and see what happens over the next few months. My guess is StatusKeeper will be extended past September given the current domestic border situation - you may not need as many SC as you expect.
