Qantas Points Club Discussion

QF Hotels (both regular Hotels and AirBnBs) aren’t bad earners if not staying with one of major Hotel chains.

I also average about 18 to 20k pa just on Red Planet surveys!
That's lot of survey! How much time do you dedicate to it, any tips to make it worthwhile?

Jump in early (immediately if possible), they can close off quickly and/or screen you out if they‘ve already filled your demographic quota.

I probably have about 75% hit rate (maybe less). So 15 pts if screened out in a minute or two. Then anything from 5 mins (50 pts) through to ~30mins for 300 to 400 pts. They average around 15 mins for 100 to 250 pts. I only started in 2020 and have earned over 55k QFF points.

It helps to be a business owner (a lot of surveys on business banking and telecommunications - that TBH become a bit tedious after a while).

PCP is going to be handy for me this year simply because I've decided on a soft landing to SG and to level VFF up to Gold because my employer uses VA exclusively now. This coincides with some other changes that make this year a quiet one for travel.

My SC earn will end up being a several hundred and I'll get 100 of those rolled over towards the SG retention next year.

It's kind of nice not having to really try to work on status. I can easily retain SG on both without worrying about runs and that 100SC rollover for Gold makes it significantly easier. It's almost 20% of the annual target, that isn't insignificant. For WP it is though, 100SC doesn't make a huge dent out of 1200.

Throw in another 50 SC from GT will help also.

I qualified for points club plus in Oct 21 . My second year of pc plus is going to expire tommorow . I accumulated 150 k points for this membership year few weeks ago . Does that mean I have achieved PC afresh for this year and should receive voucher etc ? Coz I haven’t . Will that automatically be credited next months?
or Does that mean I can only start to requalify afresh next month ?

With the years of extensions and rollovers ending, I think the 100 will be handy whichever tier you're going for.

I think in subsequent years the vouchers will appear after the year starts. But I'd be taking plenty of screenshots just incase. There's no soft landing PCP to PC

So what was the price after using the voucher?
I am not sure what a $50 voucher is worth in points, with the 10% PC+ discount.
It was a 13900 bottle, on sale at 10500, then as PC+ this reduced to 9450. The $50 voucher reduced it to a final price of 2887.

It should be 8700 pts, however sometimes the system doesn't see it that way.

Final few days in points club plus.
2 years, massive spend CC/BW to get there.
Only 2 lounge visits in the 24 months.
Couple of marginal wine club vouchers - as in, the $50 off just scraped past Dan's best price.

A free delivery, $50, 10% off combo really did hit the mark last month however. That was when the Qantas price was the same as Dan's at log-in. Those were rare.

Hotel vouchers??
Just used one. Gotta be cheaper!?
Well it was.....
Hotel website was approx $5 more than the QF discounted price.

Look, I can't complain really.
Got half a million points when banks were offering 0.5% or whatever.

I'd just like to be able to spend them.............................
I'm exactly the same, 2 years my points are up over 800k at the moment although were as high as 1.3m so i have been able to redeem a little.

only accumulated 16k points this year, been focusing on Krisflyer and VFF as i regularly am able to redeem on Singapore.

i used my hotel vouchers both years although i had ot make changes to the first booking which means i lost the voucher.

Bought 2 cases of beer this year with wine vouchers for under $10 delivered. still have 2 wine vouchers expiring in December.

i used Qantas club a few times and was great with the family but most of the time as i was flying Jetstar either the club was in a different terminal or was not open until closer to the next Qantas flight.

It looks like the discount on the original points price (roughly 25%) was also applied to the voucher.
So lesson is, if you have a non discounted points only purchase, use the voucher on that in preference.

You should be able to get the proper discount by calling and buying over the phone

Does anyone know how long it takes for the 100 SC to rollover into a new membership year? I’m a month in and they haven’t shown up

I called up for the second time (one week after first enquiry - a reply to my email in between said I needed to call to resolve it). As with the first call, the only offered resolution was to escalate it to their back office team.

I'd recommend you doing the same so that perhaps it is noticed as a systemwide issue (I'm also chasing missing green tier SCs)

Great, thanks for the tip!
