Qantas Points Club Discussion

you will find dozens of posts from members cashing out huge Qantas and Velocity balances on gift cards in early Covid - and feeling pretty smug at having done so.
OT, but I cashed out ~300k AsiaMiles for giftcards and some electronics in the middle of Covid when CX was looking shaky, and don't really regret it to be honest.

Does anyone know if once my membership year passes and I didn't make Points Club, and I then get hotel points for a stay that was in the previous membership year (accrual date), will Qantas automatically then give me Points Club or will I need to follow up?

(I am currently 5k points short with 5 weeks remaining, stayed recently in a hotel with 5k bonus points which may not arrive in current membership year.)

I can always buy some gift cards if that's a safer option.

Thanks

Q hotel points will fall into your accrual year, the bonus may take a bit longer (t&c's stated up to 8 weeks)
Bonus points may not show up in your total in your new year, not sure what they determine as accrual date there.
Other AFF's may have a data point.

My hotel points accrued in June but posted in July did not show up in PC tally, bit like delayed SC's.
But I did make PC+

For me, I would follow up after the hotel points land @Amanad78
Good luck and let us know the outcome.

My experience with the recent 5K promotion was that the base points and PC bonus had an activity date of the date of check-in, but the 5K bonus points had an activity date of when they posted. Something to bear in mind...

Thanks, very helpful

How long does the points CLUB plus status normally take to reflect on my account? I’m desperately waiting on the hundred status credits rollover for my new Travel year.... even though it says my points CLUB plus expired at the end of 2024 when it should show 2025

The 100 rollover sc should appear within a couple of days of your membership renewal. I would worry after a week or two if it is still not there. My data points: it took 1 week in April 2023 for me, and 1 day in April 2024.

I am 21,000 points short or Points club renewal. Expires at the end of the month.
Is it worth buying some Qantas wine to top up? Or let it expire?

It depends if you expect to benefit from any of the benefits and what value you place on those.

If you’re planning on flying a bunch of reward flights and need / want the SCs, then some strategic wine purchases will do it.

If you have access to points from a QBR account, you can now count up to 20k towards PC/PC+.

Thanks everyone. No QBR for me.
Some long haul flying this year, but not with Qantas or OW too expensive for business class 😞
The vouches and lounge passes are always used.
And we do like wine 😊 but after some nice trips to wine regions the cellar is rather full!

Interestingly bonus points for PC/PC+ member cash spends in the Marketplace have ended. There were promos (albeit with different amounts at times) ongoing for nearly 2 years since the Marketplace launched. 5/10% off points at checkout for most products still applies.

For those that didn't see in today's e-mail, 2,000 bonus points for PC and PC+ members on all Qantas international flights booked by 10 Feburary. Travel can be done at any point this year (by 31 December 2025).

T&C's:

Points Club and Points Club Plus members who make an eligible flight booking between 12.01am (AEDT) Tuesday 4 February 2025 and 11.59pm (AEDT) Monday 10 February 2025, and travel between 4 February 2025 and 31 December 2025, will receive 2,000 Qantas Points. An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means a Qantas marketed and operated flight (with a QF flight number on the ticket) on an Australian International ticket where Qantas Points are normally earned. QF flights operated by Alliance Airlines, National Jet, Airlink, Eastern Australia Airlines and Sunstate Airlines are eligible for this offer. QF flights operated by Finnair for Qantas (QF291, QF292, QF295 and QF296) will also be eligible for this offer. Any other flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas including Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan and other partner airlines including, but not limited to, Emirates and American Airlines will not be eligible for this offer. For full details, see Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions. Flights which are ticketed but not booked during the offer period will not be eligible. If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside the promotional period, the offer will not apply. All bookings must be new to be eligible. Any new segments added to an existing PNR during the promotional period will not be eligible. Existing PNR for the purpose of this promotion means a PNR booked outside of the 4 February 2025 to 10 February 2025. Bookings made using flight credits issued prior to 4 February 2025 are eligible for this offer. Flight credits issued after 4 February 2025 will not be eligible for this offer.
